West Chester wins battle with Holy Family

Holy Family University?s women?s volleyball lost a hard fought match tonight against West Chester University 3-1 (19-30, 30-27, 16-30, 21-30). The Lady Tigers were able to win their first game of the year in come from behind fashion. The Lady Tigers were down 13-7 in game 2 when they started their comeback. Slowly they chipped away at West Chester?s lead until it was all knotted up at 17-17. Both teams would then trade points, until Holy Family was able to pull away for the victory.

Holy Family (0-4) was led by freshman setter Michelle Copelli (Philadelphia, PA) with 20 assists and 19 digs. Senior Amanda Gibbs (Philadelphia, PA) had a team high 10 kills, to go along with 37 digs.

West Chester (5-0) was led by junior hitter Beth Foster (Langhorne, PA) with 12 kills and 40 digs. Freshman hitter Kristen Decker (Douglassville, PA) contributed 8 kills, 27 assists, and 24 digs.

Next up for the Lady Tigers is a tri-match at conference opponent Teikyo Post University, where they will also face Felician College, on Saturday afternoon.
