Spaniol Named Asst. Women's Volleyball Coach at Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD (Sept. 7, 2004) - Cintia Spaniol of Brazil has been named assistant women's volleyball coach at Bloomfield College.

Spaniol was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Year last season, based on voting by the league's ten head coaches. She allowed Bloomfield to claim the Player of the Year for the eighth consecutive season.

She led the CACC in both hitting percentage (.366) and block average (1.56) and was second in kills per game (4.12). She was also named the Most Valuable Player in the CACC postseason tournament, which Bloomfield won for the fourth consecutive year, and to the All-CACC first team and All-Tournament team. Spaniol was also named CACC Player of the Week three times during the season.

The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team finished with a 19-2 CACC record and 20-14 overall record last season.

Spaniol was recently awarded a degree-completion grant by the NCAA Division II Academic Requirements Committee for the 2004-05 academic year.

She was one of just 98 recipients of the grants nationwide.
