SHCHERBAKOVA NAMED WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Nastia Shcherbakova of Chestnut Hill College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 9. Stephanie Puentes of Goldey-Beacom College was the pick for Rookie of the Week.

Shcherbakova, a 5-9 junior from Minsk, Belarus, went 3-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles last week to lead the Griffins to three victories. She improved to 11-1 in singles and 9-3 in doubles this year.

Puentes, a 5-6 freshman from Bogota, Columbia, remained unbeaten in singles play at the No. 1 position by defeating Juliana Victoria  of Holy Family, who was previously undefeated in conference play. 


Honorable Mention
Morgan Oechsle, Chestnut Hill (Fr., 5-7, Coopersburg, PA) - Went 3-0 at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles last week.  


Nicole Way, Georgian Court (Fr., 5-7, Jackson, NJ) - Earned GCU’s lone points with a singles victory against PhilaU. Won singles and doubles against USciences.


Sayre Limburg, Philadelphia (So., 5-5, New London, NH) - Won her singles and doubles matches against Georgian Court in a 8-1 victory.  


CACC Team Notes

Concordia - Concordia (5-0, 5-0 CACC) will host Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. The Clippers will then travel to the ITA National Small College Championships on Thursday for the four-day event in Mobile, AL.

Georgian Court - The Lions snapped a losing streak of six with Thursday’s 7-2 victory at University of the Sciences. GCU concludes its fall regular season this week with five matches (Monday @Queens College, 10/11 vs. Caldwell, 10/12 @ Shippensburg, 10/14 @ Goldey-Beacom, 10/15 @ Holy Family).

Philadelphia - The Rams recorded two easy wins last week. They currently hold a 5-4 overall record (3-3 CACC).  Next the Rams will travel to Cabrini College on Thursday (10/13) followed by a home match against Holy Family University (10/14).
