ESPINOSA SELECTED WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Isabella Espinosa of Philadelphia University has been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 26. Maria Parapouras of Chestnut Hill College was named Rookie of the Week.

Espinosa, a 5-3 freshman from Quito, Ecuador, went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-1 at No. 1 doubles last week. She earned her singles victories over La Salle, Caldwell and Goldey-Beacom, and won doubles against both CACC foes.

Parapouras, a 5-2 freshman from Victoria, Australia, went 3-0 at No. 3 singles and was the only Griffin to win against Concordia on Saturday. She also went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles with partner Danielle Knott.

Honorable Mention

Ola Roberts, Concordia (Sr., 5-7, Bucharest, Romania) - Went undefeated last week against Post and Chestnut Hill at No. 1 singles and doubles.

Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (Sr., 5-3, Quito, Ecuador - Went 3-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles last week.

Melanie Bonomo, Goldey-Beacom (So., 5-3, Maracay, Venezuela) - Compiled a 3-0 week at No. 4 singles, including key wins against Holy Family and Philadelphia.   

CACC Team Notes

Georgian Court - The Lions, riding a two-match winning streak, play five matches this week (9/27 @ Concordia, 9/28 vs. Post, 9/30 vs. West Chester University, 10/2 vs. Holy Family University and 10/3 vs. Adelphi University).

Goldey-Beacom - GBC has now begun the last two seasons with 6-0 marks. The year before that (2008), the Lightning started off 5-0 before they lost their first match. They are one win away from tying the longest win-streak in program history, seven, done last year.

Philadelphia -  Isabella Espinosa and Daniela Rodriguez each improved to 6-0 in singles play last week. The Lady Rams will host three matches this week. Their first opponent will be Chestnut Hill College (9/28), followed by USP (9/30) and finally Concordia (10/2).
