JULIANA VICTORIA NAMED WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Juliana Victoria of Holy Family University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 19. Nastia Shcherbakova of Chestnut Hill College was selected Rookie of the Week.
Victoria, a sophomore from Guayaquil, Ecuador, advanced to the semi-finals of the singles and doubles "A" brackets a the ITA East Region Tournament over the weekend at Chestnut Hill. She fell to the overall No. 1 seeds in both brackets. She also won her singles and doubles matches against Division I Rider University earlier in the week.
Shcherbakova, a 5-9 freshman from Minsk, Belarus, went 2-0 in singles and doubles in two matches last week and also advanced to the semi-finals of the ITA singles "A" bracket over the weekend. She also made it to the semi-finals of the "A" doubles bracket with teammate Kelly Dennis.
Honorable Mention
Yulia Plevako, Concordia (So., Astana, Kazakhstan) - Teamed with Ola Roberts to win the doubles “A” draw at ITA’s. Also advanced to the quarter-finals in singles.
Laura Cure, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., 5-11, Maracaibo, Venezuela) - Advanced to the finals of the ITA “B” singles draw.
Natalie Grieci, Georgian Court (Sr., 5-5, Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) - Advanced to the third round of the singles “B” bracket at the ITA Championships.
CACC Team Notes
Georgian Court - The Lions have a busy week coming up with three dual matches, at Dowling on Tuesday and home against Shippensburg on Thursday and vs. the University of the Sciences on Saturday.
Philadelphia - The team’s match against Gwynedd Mercy was suspended because of rain after the completion of doubles play. A date to finish the match has not been set. Isabella Espinosa and Brittany Villa represented Philadelphia at the USTA/ITA East Regional last weekend. Both players competed at singles and doubles and fell in the first round of play in both. The Lady Rams will return to the court this week for three matches, traveling to La Salle (9/21), hosting Caldwell (9/22) and returning to the road at Goldey-Beacom (9/24).
