CHC'S KELLY DENNIS PICKS UP CACC WEEKLY WOMEN'S TENNIS AWARD

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Kelly Dennis of Chestnut Hill College has picked up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors in the conference's initial report of the 2010-11 season. Philadelphia University's Isabella Espinosa was named Rookie of the Week.
Dennis, a 5-6 freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, went 3-0 in both singles and doubles to open the season while playing the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions for the Griffins. She won her first collegiate match (6-1, 6-1) at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday.
Espinosa, a 5-3 freshman from Quito, Ecuador, recorded wins in singles and doubles against Kutztown and Cabrini last week. She played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Lady Rams.
Honorable Mention
Brittany Villa, Philadelphia (Jr., 5-3, Logan, NJ) - Opened the season with 2-0 records in singles and doubles against Kutztown and Cabrini.
Laura Cure, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., 5-11, Maracaibo, Venezuela) - Picked up two key wins in a narrow 5-4 CACC-opening win over Chestnut Hill.
Desiree Vassalotti, USci (So., 5-4, Vineland, NJ) - Went undefeated in singles play last week, winning the team’s lone point vs. Holy Family.
CACC Team Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars opened the 2010 season with a 6-3 victory over Post on Wednesday. Juniors Amanda Berry and Kierra Tims, and sophomore Elizabeth Odell won at both singles and doubles.
Georgian Court - The Lions have a very busy week coming up with two dual matches (9/14 vs. Goldey-Beacom & 9/16 @ Stockton), as well as their annual appearance at the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships this weekend in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia - Senior Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Menor) opened the season strong, winning both of her singles matches last week. The Lady Rams will look for their second victory of the season when they play at the University of the Sciences (9/14).
USciences - The Devils opened their 2010-11 season with a split of their two conference matches. Sophomore Desiree Vassalotti (Vineland, N.J.) went undefeated on the week, winning two singles matches.
