PLEVAKO PICKS UP WOMEN'S TENNIS WEEKLY AWARD
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yuliya Plevako of Concordia College has picked up Women's Tennis Player of the Week accolades for the final week of the fall regular-season. Marie-Louise Klein of Goldey-Beacom College was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Plevako, a sophomore from Astana, Kazakhstan, finished sixth overall at the ITA National Doubles Tournament with partner Ola Robers. She also swept both of her matches against University of the Sciences. Plevako was also named Player of the Week on Oct. 4.
Klein, a 5-6 freshman from Espergaerde, Denmark, recorded a 2-0 record with Marina Sales at No. 1 doubles last week and also won her No. 2 singles match at USciences.
Nastia Shcherbakova, Chestnut Hill (So., Minsk, Belarus) - Won both of her matches to help CHC secure a 5-4 win over Georgian Court.
Daniela Rodriguez, Philadelphia (Sr., 5-3, Quito, Ecuador) - Finished her career with a winning streak of six matches, including two singles wins last week. Also went 2-0 in doubles last week.
CACC Team Notes
Chestnut Hill - The Griffins earned their first appearance in the CACC Women’s Tennis Tournament with their 5-4 defeat of Georgian Court on Oct. 13.
Georgian Court - The Georgian Court University tennis squad, in its final match of the fall season, defeated Post University by an 8-1 score Friday afternoon at GCU’s Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center. Prior to the event, the Lions recognized seniors Natalie Grieci and Lindsay Hammond on its annual Senior Day.
Philadelphia - Philadelphia University concluded the 2010 season with a split in their final two matches. The Rams finished the season strong, winning four of their final five contests, including an 8-0 sweep over Post University in their last match of the regular season.
