NEW HAVEN, CT - Cristina Oliveira of Concordia College has
garnered Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week
honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 4. Fellow Clipper Yuliya
Plevako was the pick for Rookie of the Week.
Oliveira, a 5-4 senior from Porto Allegre, Brazil, went 4-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 4-0 week for the Clippers. She gave up only six games in singles all week and four in doubles.
Plevako, a freshman from Astana, Kazakhstan, went undefeated in both No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles for Concordia. She won in straight sets in every match on the week.
Honorable Mention
Daniela Robriguez, Philadelphia (Jr., 5-6, Quito, Ecuador) - Went a combined 6-0 in No. 1 singles and doubles in a 2-1 week for Phila.U.
Luciana Pereira, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., 5-6, Sao Paulo, Brazil) - Recorded a 2-1 record at both No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles last week.
Danielle Knott, Chestnut Hill (Fr., 5-6, Mt. Vernon, NY) - Went
3-1 in singles and doubles in a 2-2 overall week for the Griffins.
CACC Notes
Concordia - The Clippers continued to keep their perfect season alive, extending their winning streak this season to nine. The Clippers will face Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday to finish out the CACC regular season.
Georgian Court - After winning a season-high three straight matches from Sept. 22-26, the Lions have now lost three in a row. GCU played matches on three straight days last week.
Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning earned their first-ever program win over perennial CACC powerhouse Philadelphia University last week.
Philadelphia - PhilaU went 2-1 on the week, getting wins over
CACC opponents Caldwell and Georgian Court. Junior #1 Daniela
Rodriguez was stellar, not dropping a match all week. This week the
team hosts Holy Family (10/6) and Adelphi (10/10) and travels to
Chestnut Hill (10/8).
