CONCORDIA SWEEPS CACC WOMEN'S TENNIS WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Concordia College has swept the CACC Women's Tennis weekly awards for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 20. Christina Oliveira was the pick for Player of the Week while Ola Roberts garnered Rookie of the Week honors.

Oliveira, a 5-4 senior from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do sul, advanced to the semi-finals of the ITA Regional singles "A" bracket and won the doubles "A" bracket with teammate Ola Roberts. She also went undefeated against CACC opposition during the week.

Roberts, a 5-7 freshman from Romania, won the ITA Regional doubles "A" bracket with Oliveira and was the singles runner-up after falling to the No. 1 player from Southern New Hampshire.

Honorable Mention 

Luciana Pereira, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., 5-6, Sao Paulo, Brazil) - At the ITA's, advanced to the "B" singles quarterfinals and got to the third round of the "B" doubles draw with sister, Daniela.

Sara Durham, USP (Fr., 5-4, Bridgeton, NJ) - Went 3-1 in singles competition on the week. Won her first two matches in the "B" singles draw at ITA's.

Caitlyn Lawrence, Georgian Court (Sr., 5-2, Toms River, NJ) - Advanced to the third round in the singles bracket at ITA's and to the second round in doubles.

CACC Notes

Concordia - In their CACC debut the Clippers won 9-0 over Georgian Court, then won by the same score over Caldwell the next day. The Clippers will next face Holy Family on Tuesday and then host the defending CACC Champion Philadelphia University on Thursday. Christina Oliveira and Ola Roberts will be moving on to the ITA National Tournament.

Georgian Court - Caitlyn Lawrence and Alexus McClintic teams up and advanced to the second round of the "B" doubles bracket at the ITA Regional Championships. Both won their opening "B" singles matches before squaring off against each other in the second round. Lawrence won, 8-6.

USP - The Devils won matches for the first time ever at the ITA Regional Tournament this weekend. Freshman Sara Durham (Bridgeton, N.J.) won two singles matches before bowing out in the round of 16 of the "B" singles flight. Junior Bridget Frymoyer (Shillington, Pa.) won a match to advance to the round of 32 and USP's doubles team of Laney Jones (Blakeslee, Pa.) and Juliet Choi (New City, N.Y.) won a match to advance to the round of 16 in doubles.
