TOP SEEDS ALL ADVANCE IN FIRST DAY OF CACC INDIVIDUAL WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The top seeds in both the singles and doubles brackets all advanced during the first day of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Individual Tournament today at Chestnut Hill College. The top seed for the singles bracket is Luisiana Souto of Goldey-Beacom College, while the top doubles team is Adriana and Daniela Rodriguez of Philadelphia University.

Souto won two matches today, but it wasn't easy as she squeaked past Christina Sebastiani of USP (5-7, 6-4, (10-5)) and then Quena Borres of Holy Family by the same score. Souto, a sophomore, will face No. 4 seeded Daniela Rodriguez of Philadelphia tomorrow in a semifinal match at approximately 10:30 am. Rodriguez, a sophomore, advanced to the semifinal round by defeating Holy Family's Melanie Pulsinelli and Lady Ram teammate, freshman Christina Brzozowski.

Second seeded Adriana Rodriguez of Philadelphia and third seed Shakir Willett of Holy Family will face off in the other half of the bracket at approximately 10:30 am. Rodriguez, a sophomore, upended Luciana Pereira of Goldey-Beacom and Erin Andersen of Chestnut Hill en route to the semifinal round. Willett, a senior, earned victories over Georgian Court's Caitlyn Lawrence and Brittany Aimone.

In the doubles bracket, the top seeded team of Adriana and Daniela Rodriguez upended two opponents to earn a spot in the championship match tomorrow at 9:00 am. The duo defeated the Holy Family team of Lianna Lui and Melanie Pulsinelli and also the USP tandem of Sebastiani and Zahra Hasan.

Also advancing to the doubles championship was the No. 2 team of Willett and Borres from Holy Family. They defeated Lawrence and Grieci of Georgian Court and Brzozowski and Stephanie Reinke of Philadelphia to earn a spot in the championship match.
