SMITH AND BEDWAY NAMED CACC CO-WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Maddie Smith of Philadelphia University and Amanda Bedway of USP have earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis co-Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 16. Adriana Rodriguez of Philadelphia was the pick for Rookie of the Week.

Smith, a senior from Bethlehem, PA, went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles last week. She won her singles matches by scores of 6-1, 6-0 over Cabrini and 6-2, 6-2 over Georgian Court. Her doubles team won by counts of 8-4 and 8-2.

Bedway, a senior from Orwigsburg, PA, won her singles match against Eastern University, 6-0 and 6-1, and added a 6-3, 6-0 win versus Chestnut Hill. Her doubles team won by scores of 8-1 and 8-2.

Rodriguez, a freshman from San Juan, Puerto Rico, went 2-0 last week at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles. She won her singles matches against Cabrini, 6-2, 6-3 and Georgian Court, 6-2, 6-1. She teamed with Smith for her two doubles wins.

Honorable Mention

Colleen Reasoner, Chestnut Hill (Sr., 5-4, Trenton, NJ) - Went 2-1 at No. 5 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles last week.

Luisiana Souto, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., 5-4, Caracus, Venezuela) - Won her No. 1 singles and doubles matches against Caldwell.

CACC Women's Tennis Notes

Georgian Court - Georgian Court had a tough week falling to top teams Dowling College and Philadelphia University. The Lions face CACC-newcomer Chestnut Hill College Tuesday afternoon and Holy Family University Thursday afternoon before traveling to Bloomsburg University for the ITA Regionals.

Philadelphia - Maddie Smith now has 55 career singles and doubles wins. She needs seven more singles and five more doubles wins to become Philadelphia's all-time leader in both. The Lady Rams have a three match win streak heading into CACC showdown with preseason #1 Holy Family University, this Tue. 9/18 at 4:00 p.m. on the Main Campus Courts at Philadelphia University.

USP - USP's 4-0 start is the best in school history.
