SMITH GARNERS PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WOMEN'S TENNIS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Maddie Smith of Philadelphia University has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 7. Adriana Rodriguez of Philadelphia has been named Rookie of the Week for third time.

Smith, a senior from Bethlehem, PA, went 4-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 4-0 week for the Lady Rams. She also broke the school record for career victories, and now has 125 in her career.

Rodriguez, a freshman from San Juan, Puerto Rico, compiled a perfect combined 8-0 record at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles last week. She won both singles and doubles against Caldwell, Chestnut Hill, USP and Post.

Honorable Mention

Cara Wallin, Chestnut Hill (So., Reading, PA) - Went 1-1 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles against Philadelphia and Post.

Luisiana Souto, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., Caracas, Venezuela) - Went undefeated at No. 1 singles last week in three matches.

CACC Notes

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams finished the CACC regular-season with an outstanding 6-1 record, and earned the #2 seed in the conference tournament which they will host beginning Friday, October 12th. Overall, Philadelphia University has won seven straight team matches. They host non-conference East Stroudsburg University this Thursday, October 11th, in addition to the CACC Team Championships.
