CACC Women's Soccer All-Conference

All-CACC Women's Soccer Teams Announced, Murphy Is Player of the Year

November 5, 2002

NEWARK, N.J. (11/5/02) -- Melissa Murphy of Holy Family College was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women?s Soccer Player of the Year and Goldey-Beacom College?s Chris Morgan earned Coach of the Year honors in balloting released today. The voting was done by the league?s 11 head coaches.

Murphy?s two-way abilities helped Holy Family to a perfect 10-0 league record and a 13-7 regular season. As a goalkeeper, she is second in the CACC in goals-against average (1.34). She also played 4 ? games at forward and is eighth in the league in goals with 13. Murphy, a senior, is from Trevose, Pennsylvania.

Morgan, also the director of athletics, guided Goldey-Beacom to a 13-4-1 regular season record in just the third year in program history. The Lightning was second in the CACC with an 8-2 mark.

The CACC?s annual Team Sportsmanship Award went to New Jersey Institute of Technology, coached by Tom Romano. NJIT picked up just five yellow cards, and no red cards, in its 17-game season.

The league also announced the all-CACC teams, which are listed below.
