LYONS NAMED WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Kelly Lyons of Georgian Court University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 1. Melissa Copeland of Philadelphia University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Lyons, a 5-6 sophomore forward from Jackson, NJ, scored six goals in a 2-0 week for the Lions, which tied the team for the CACC Regular-Season championship with a 10-2 record. She netted four goals in a 5-0 win over Wilmington and added a pair of scores versus St. Thomas Aquinas. Lyons was also named Player of the Week on Sept. 21 this season.

Copeland, a 5-5 freshman midfielder from Islip Terrace, NY, notched her first career hat-trick in a victory over Concordia. She also assisted on the double-overtime, game-winning goal against Holy Family on Thursday.

Honorable Mention

Gabrielle Haden, Philadelphia (So., M/F, 5-6, Freehold, NJ) - Scored three goals on the week, including two in a 2 OT win over Holy Family.

Rosa Centurion, Dominican (Sr., M, 5-5, Mamaroneck, NY) - Posted two goals and one assist in two CACC wins for the Lady Chargers.

Derienne Jacobowitz, Felician (Jr., F, 5-5, Staten Island, NY) - Tallied two goals and two assists in a win over Lincoln.

Laura Nunnery, Bloomfield (Jr., M/F, 5-8, St. Simons Island, GA) - Scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Goldey-Beacom.

CACC Notes 

Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons closed their season with their first CACC victory, topping Goldey-Beacom, 3-1. Midfielder Laura Nunnery was the difference, tallying two goals in the win. The 2009 season saw the team score its most goals since the program became a CACC member.

Caldwell - The Cougars wrapped up the regular season with a win over Goldey-Beacom on Monday and a loss at Holy Family on Saturday. Sophomore midfielder Nikki D'Orsaneo had a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory over the Lightning. Caldwell finished in seventh place in the CACC with a 6-5-1 conference record and will open the CACC Tournament at Georgian Court on Tuesday.



Felician - Freshman M/D Jen Jimenez and junior D Amanda Mottola each scored their first career goals in Saturday's 8-1 home victory over Lincoln. Jimenez's tally went as the game-winner. Felician will make its second consecutive CACC Tournament appearance under coach Thomas Notte, a stretch which followed a three-year absence before Notte's arrival.

Georgian Court - The Lions locked up the #2 seed in the CACC Tournament with last Tuesday's 5-0 win over Wilmington University. GCU will host #7-seed Caldwell College this Tuesday at 2PM in the CACC quarterfinals. Georgian Court defeated the Cougars in Caldwell 2-0 on 10/19. The Lions won their last three contests by the combined score of 14-0. GCU goalkeeper has posted three straight shutouts for nine on the season.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams went 2-0 on the week, including a thrilling 2-1 double overtime defeat of city rival Holy Family. With the win, PhilaU clinched the 2009 CACC Regular Season Championship, and will head into the postseason tournament as the #1 seed. The Lady Rams host Felician on Tuesday (11/3) at 2:00 p.m. at Ravenhill Field and with a win will advance to the semifinal round on Thursday (11/5) hosted by Wilmington University at 11:00 a.m.
