LAUREIGH TABBED WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nicole Laureigh of Caldwell College has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 18. Kelli Kowalewski of Philadelphia University was chosen Rookie of the Week. 

Laureigh, a 5-6 senior forward from Lanoka Harbor, NJ, registered both of Caldwell's goals in a 2-1 victory at Post University. She netted the game-winner in the 71st minute of action in Caldwell's only game of the week.

Kowalewski, a 5-9 freshman goalie from Shamong, NJ, posted a shutout against Georgian Court University in a 1-0 double-overtime win. She stopped seven shots on the afternoon.

Honorable Mention

Natalie Vespe, Philadelphia (Jr., M/F, 5-6, Atco, NJ) - Scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime in a 1-0 victory over GCU.

Lindsay Fisher, Holy Family (So., D, 5-8, Oakford, PA) - Registered one goal and two assists against Goldey-Beacom.

Skyler Eiceman, Georgian Court (Jr., M, 5-7, Robesonia, PA) - Scored two goals in a victory over Post.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons played the Nyack Warriors to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. Midfielder Laura Nunnery tied the game, 1-1, with a penalty kick goal in the final seconds of regulation.

Caldwell - The Cougars won their only game of the week, a 2-1 victory at Post on Tuesday. Senior forward Nicole Laureigh scored both of Caldwell's goals for her first multi-goal game as a Cougar. The win moved Caldwell's conference record to 4-3-1. The Cougars play CACC home games against Georgian Court, Concordia and Goldey-Beacom this week.



Georgian Court - The Lions saw their five-game winning end on a 2OT penalty kick, resulting in a 1-0 loss Tuesday at Philly U. Before Tuesday's loss at Philly, GK Lindsay Hammond went almost 467 minutes (466:50) between goals permitted, the last coming on a GCU own-goal in a 4-1 victory at Goldey-Beacom College, September 29th.

Holy Family - Holy Family won its only game of the week by defeating conference opponent Goldey-Beacom 8-0. Melissa Moratti scored twice in the win. Lindsay Fisher had a goal and two assists. The Tigers' other two games, against East Stroudsburg and Caldwell, were both postponed due to weather. Megan Tole is the team leader with 10 goals and 22 points. Fisher is second with six goals and 19 points. She also has a team-high seven assists. This week, Holy Family is at West Chester on Friday night and hosts Concordia on Saturday.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams earned a 1-0 double OT win over Georgian Court University last week, in a rematch of last year's CACC title game. Natalie Vespe was the hero in this one, winning it on a penalty kick in the second overtime after GCU was called for a hand ball in the box. PhilaU proved too solid for the Lions in the victory, helped by rookie goalie Kelli Kowalewski who earned her fourth shutout of the year. Two PhilaU matches were cancelled or postponed due to weather last week, the Concordia match will be made up (10/26) at 3:00 p.m. at PhilaU.
