NEW HAVEN, CT - Missy Torzewski of Bloomfield College was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 1. Lindsay Fisher of Holy Family University was the choice for Rookie of the Week.

Torzewski, a 5-3 sophomore forward from Glen Gardner, NJ, netted four goals in leading Bloomfield to a 2-0 week to open the season. She found the back of the net three times in a win over Columbia Union. Torzewski now has 15 career goals, which is a new school record.

Fisher, a 5-7 freshman defender from Oakford, PA, scored both of Holy Family's goals for the week against St. Anselm and Franklin Pierce. She led the team with five shots on the week.

Honorable Mention

Lauren Riiff, Chestnut Hill (So., F, Clementon, NJ) - Scored three goals on the week, including the game-winner against Columbia Union.

Natalie Vespe, Philadelphia (So., M/F, 5-6, Atco, NJ) - Scored the team's lone goal of the week against Millersville.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - Bloomfield's opening day win was the team's first-ever in a season opener. It also marked the first time the Deacons were over .500 in any point in any season. Six different players registered points in the win over Lincoln. Jerrica Lavooy, Missy Torzewski, Erin Mullins and Shannon Martin each had goals while Shawna Reynolds and Christine Rutherford had assists.

Caldwell - The Cougars started the 2008 season with a pair of losses at the AIC Tournament in Springfield, Mass. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig totaled 14 saves in goal for Caldwell, which hosts Pace University on Saturday at noon in the team's home opener.

Chestnut Hill - The Griffins earned their first NCAA Division II victory with a 3-0 win over Columbia Union. It is the program's first win since October 21, 2006.

Felician - Sophomore D Brittney Brodniak was named to the all-tournament team of the Saint Michael's DoubleTree Kick Off Classic, held Friday and Saturday. The center back played all 180 minutes, recording a "team save" during a corner-kick situation with the game scoreless in Saturday's eventual 4-1 loss to receiving-votes-nationally Merrimack. Freshman F Stephanie Jimenez scored her first career goal in that game. Senior GK Amanda Musarra started both games in goal and finished both at forward. Friday marked her first appearance as a field player in 50 collegiate matches.

Holy Family - The Holy Family women's soccer team is 0-2 after a pair of road losses to open the season. Holy Family dropped the season opener to host St. Anselm on Friday, 4-1. Freshman back Lindsay Fisher scored her first collegiate goal in the defeat. On Saturday, the Tigers visited #2 Franklin Pierce and were knocked off 9-1. Fisher struck again by converted on a second half penalty kick. This week, Holy Family hosts the University of New Haven on Tuesday, September 2 and visits Queens (N.Y.) on Saturday, September 6.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams had a tough start to the 2008 season, going 0-2 on the week. Sophomore Natalie Vespe scored Phila U.'s only goal of the week in a 2-1 loss at Millersville. Senior goalie Sara Hall had seven saves on the week, while allowing three goals. The Lady Rams open their home season this week facing Adelphia (9/4) and C.W. Post (9/6).
