PHILADELPHIA AND GEORGIAN COURT SET TO MEET FOR CACC WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia University and Georgian Court University won their semi-final games today to advance to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Tournament Championship game. Top-seeded Philadelphia defeated No. 4 Caldwell, 2-1 in double-overtime, while the No. 2 Lions upended No. 3 Holy Family, 1-0. The Lady Rams and Lions will meet at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 pm. This will be Philadelphia's third straight appearance in the CACC Championship game.

Philadelphia (11-6-4) had a frustrating first half against Caldwell (8-11-1) and could not find the back of the net despite earning a 15-0 shot advantage. In the second stanza, Lady Ram senior Brianna Reinford broke through with a header for the first goal of the match at 70:16, off a corner kick from sophomore Sara Redka. The Lady Rams held the Cougars without a single shot for nearly 80 minutes, but the Cougars clawed back with a header from senior Samantha Rinks in the 86th minute off a corner kick from Morgan Frankenfield to send the game into overtime.

Senior Kristin Franks scored the game-winner off a direct kick to give Philadelphia a dramatic win with only 36 seconds left in the second overtime.  The Lady Rams out-shot Caldwell 32-3 for the match.

In the second game of the day, the lone goal came at the 17:19 mark in Georgian Court's 1-0 triumph. Freshman forward Kelly Lyons floated a pass from the left side and found classmate Candice Seaton, who one-timed the ball into the net. Lyons was named the CACC Rookie of the Year on Monday.

Georgian Court (11-6-5) junior goalie Lindsay Hammond came up with seven saves, six coming in the second half, to make Seaton's goal stand up. Holy Family's Michelle Giambrone stopped six shots. Holy Family (9-11-2) out-shot the Lions, 18-13, including a 15-4 advantage in the second half.
