RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Soccer student-athlete Brittany Lohman of Nutley has been named Felician College's recipient of the 2009 New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award.
Lohman and her fellow institutional and high school honorees were the guests of honor at the annual NJAIAW Woman of the Year luncheon on Sunday, run in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Following this year's luncheon, held at Seton Hall University, each winner was recognized at halftime of the Pirates' women's basketball game against St. John's University.
Lohman is a three-time member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Fall All-Academic team, and owns a 3.74 cumulative grade-point average with a double major in elementary education and English. For the past two years, she has also been the president of Felician's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the female representative to the CACC SAAC. This season, Lohman was a part of the College's delegation at the CACC Silly Olympics, and coordinated the Felician SAAC's Christmas Shoeboxes for Children program.
On the soccer field, Lohman was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at stopper back, including the 2008 Golden Falcon squad that made the program's first ECAC Tournament appearance. After recovering from an injury in her freshman season, she started the final 60 games of her career. A 2005 graduate of Nutley High, she had three career goals and one assist at Felician.
