RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Recent high-school graduate Nina D’Amato of Lyndhurst signed a national letter of intent for women’s soccer during the recently-concluded NCAA signing period, committing to Felician College to continue her career. Additionally, freshman-to-be Amanda Michalak of Clifton and transfer Sara Mammone of Rochelle Park have inked athletic financial aid agreements with the Golden Falcons, Felician athletic director Ben DiNallo Jr. announced today

D’Amato, a 5-foot-2 midfielder, and Michalak, a 5-foot-6 forward, were teammates at Immaculate Conception of Lodi, which is adjacent to Felician’s main campus. D’Amato, who also played softball for the Blue Wolves, is undecided on a major course of study. Michalak, who plays club soccer for Meadowlands United Fulham, expects to study nursing.

Mammone is coming off two seasons at Bergen Community College, where she earned first-team all-conference honors as a true freshman. The 5-foot-5 midfielder played scholastically at Hackensack High, graduating in 2006. Mammone, who owns a first-degree black belt in tae kwan do, intends to major in special eduation.

The trio will join forward Stephanie Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and goalkeeper Shaneil Lorenzo (Dover, NJ/Morris Catholic), who committed earlier in the signing period, as newcomers for first-year Golden Falcon head coach Thomas Notte. Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons are coming off a won-lost-tied record of 5-12-1 in 2007.
