Wilmington's Liz Case and Holy Family's Brianna Lancetta Claim CACC Lacrosse Weekly Honors

 

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 17, 2012) - Wilmington's Liz Case (Perry Hall, Md.) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending April 16. Holy Family's Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J.) was chosen as the league's rookie of the week.

 

CACC Lacrosse Player of the Week
Liz Case, Wilmington (Sr., A, Perry Hall, Md.)

Recorded 13 points (eight goals and five assists) over two games last week, wins over Chestnut Hill and Post.  Tallied six goals and two assists against the Griffins (4/11) and two scores and three assists vs. Post (4/14).

 

 

CACC Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Brianna Lancetta, Holy Family (Fr., M, Wilmington, Del.)
Registered seven goals over a pair of games last week for the Tigers, both of which resulted in wins over Georgian Court and Philadelphia.  Also recorded one groundball and claimed a pair of draws.

 

CACC Lacrosse Honorable Mention
Stephanie McNesby, Holy Family (Jr., M, Philadelphia, Pa.)
Totaled eight points by compiling six goals and two assists over a pair of games last week.  Also won a total of 12 draws and registered two groundballs.

 

Ashley Knoll, Wilmington (Fr., M, Baltimore, Md.)
Recorded seven points over two games last week with five goals and two assists.  Also won a pair of draws.

 

Corinne Coyle, Georgian Court (Jr., M, Brick, N.J.)
Posted six goals over two games last week while adding eight draws and three groundballs.  Scored her six goals on just seven shot attempts.

 

 

CACC Women’s Lacrosse Team Notes

Holy Family - Holy Family (8-4, 7-1 CACC) went 2-0 this past week after picking up two conference road victories over Georgian Court (17-14) and Philadelphia (22-16). Holy Family's current five-game winning streak is the team's longest in program history. Senior Gina Mansi scored four goals against Philadelphia and as a result tied former teammate Jennifer James' all-time mark for career goals with 152. Mansi is also now two points away from tying James' all-time points record of 172. She currently has 170 career points. Freshman Brianna Lancetta scored a career-high six goals in the win over Philadelphia.

 

Dominican - Dominican won their only contested of the week as they defeated Chestnut Hill College 14-8 to improve to 4-7 overall and 4-4 in the CACC.

 

Wilmington - The Wildcats moved into sole possession of third place by going 2-0 last week. They need a strong comeback to defeat Chestnut Hill in overtime and scored 13 goals in the second half to win going away against Post on Saturday. Liz Case led all goal scorers with eight goals and five assists and is now third in the CACC in assists (24) and points (55). She tallied a career best six goals against Chestnut Hill, including the game tying goal in regulation with 2:20 to play and in overtime with 2:30 on the scoreboard. Ashley Kroll led the Wildcats with four goals and two assists against Post on Saturday. Kaitlyn Hall made 17 stops in goal last week, making 10 saves against Chestnut Hill to improve to 7-4 on the year. She continues to lead the CACC with a 10.75 GAA and is second with a .479 save percentage.
