MAURER OF PHILADELPHIA NAMED WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Kathleen Maurer of Philadelphia University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 4. Kathryn Price of Post University was chosen Rookie of the Week.

Maurer, a 5-5 senior midfielder from Rochester, N.Y., registered 15 points on eight goals and seven assists in a 2-0 week for the Lady Rams. She tallied five goals and three assists in a win over Wilmington and added three goals and four helpers versus Post.

Price, a freshman midfielder from Saybrook, Conn., recorded seven goals and one assists in two games for the Eagles. She netted six goals in a tough 12-10 loss to Chestnut Hill.

Honorable Mention

Laura Housel, Georgian Court (Sr., A, West Caldwell, NJ) - Scored five goals and three assists in a 2-0 week. Had three goals and two assists in a victory over Holy Family. 

Gina Mansi, Holy Family (So., A, 5-6, Wash. Twp., NJ) - Scored 10 goals in three games last week, on 16 total shots.

Carley Glass, Chestnut Hill (Sr., M, Swedesboro, NJ) - Notched seven goals and three assists in three contests last week.

CACC Notes

Chestnut Hill - Chestnut Hill College defeated Post University 12-10 on Tuesday, March 30 to collect their first CACC win of the season. The Griffins battled the Eagles through dismal weather conditions and held off a second half Eagle rally to earn first-year head coach, Lesley Graham and junior goalkeeper Cherise Bell (Elkins Park, PA) their first conference victories.

Georgian Court - Christine Flaherty (Sr.) scored the 100th goal of her career in Thursday’s 17-7 victory at Holy Family University, joining teammates Natalie Bermudez (Sr.) and Ryan McGrath (Jr.) as GCU’s only members of this elite club. The Lions play three CACC contests this week, including road games at Dominican (4/8) and Post (4/11) and a home match vs. Holy Family (4/10).

Holy Family - Holy Family evened its record at 4-4 after going 2-1 last week. The Tigers earned wins against Wilmington and Queens, while losing to Georgian Court. Against Queens, Holy Family won a program record 24 draw controls. Stephanie McNesby led the team with eight. The Tigers are 3-2 in the CACC. This week, the Tigers host Wilmington on Tuesday and travel to Georgian Court on Saturday.

Philadelphia - The maroon and gray stayed perfect in conference (5-0) with wins over Wilmington and Post this week.  In goal, senior keeper Kat Sullivan recorded 17 saves in 120 minutes of work, while Kalin Hodel notched seven goals on the week.  The team hosts St. Thomas Aquinas before traveling to CACC opponent Dominican this week. 

Post - Kathryn Price scored six goals and added one assist in Post’s close lost to Chestnut Hill and backed that up with a single score against Philadelphia. Price currently leads the Eagles with 14 points and 13 goals this season. Post readies for back to back games this weekend. On Saturday the Eagles host Chestnut Hill and on Sunday Georgian Court comes to town.
