USCIENCES-DOMINICAN BOXSCORE - CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEMIFINAL #2

CALDWELL, N.J. (March 2, 2012) –
The University of the Sciences held on to beat Dominican College 62-59 in the semifinals of the CACC Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday night at Caldwell College in a game that featured eight ties and seven lead changes.

With the victory, the Devils (19-10) advance to Saturday CACC Women's Basketball Championship Game where they will meet Holy Family (#1 South) in a 7:00 p.m. (ET) tip at Caldwell College.

The Devils held off a furious rally by the Chargers to seal the victory.  Dominican's Bianca Harris had a chance to tie the game with five seconds left but came up short on a layup attempt.

The second half featured a pair of big runs, one by each team.  USciences opened the second half on a 16-3 spurt over the opening 5:46 to take a 45-33 lead.

Dominican (14-14) responded with a run of its own that saw it outscore the Devils 16-0 over a 4:40 stretch to knot the game at 47-47 and set up the furious back-and-forth action over the final 10 minutes, which saw three ties and neither team lead by more than a four-point margin.

Dominican opened the game on a 7-0 run that was sparked by five points by Marley Klunk over the initial 3:52.  USciences battled back to tie the game at 17-17 at the 8:35 mark.  From that point on, neither team would lead by more than four points for the remainder of the half with Dominican holding a 30-29 advantage heading into intermission.

Carolyn Edwards was Sciences leading scorer in the win with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.  CACC Rookie of the Year Brianne Traub also notched double-figure points with 15 while Becca Ruggear recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

All-CACC third team selection Lindsey Lopez paced Dominican in the loss with a game-high 19 points, while playing all 40 minutes.
