Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women’s basketball team will face two NCAA Division I institutions in exhibitions this preseason, announced Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Tom Shirley.
“A tough preseason schedule is what I want and what our players need,” said Shirley.
The Lady Rams take on Iona College in an exhibition on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Hynes Center in New Rochelle, NY. The Gaels finished 18-14 (13-5 MAAC) last season.
Just two days later the women’s team will cross I-76 to play St. Joseph’s University at the Hagan Arena on Sunday, Nov. 7, a team coached by Shirley’s cousin Cindy Griffin. The Hawks went 17-15 (9-5 A-10) last year.
Stay tuned for game times.
Shirley’s Lady Rams open the regular season on Thursday (11/18) when they host Washington Adventist at the Gallagher Athletic Center. They finished the 2009-10 campaign 15-13 overall, 13-6 and second in the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) ‘South’ division.
