SIMMONS GARNERS CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Wilmington University forward Amelia Simmons has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 31. Post University's Aubrey Latham was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Simmons, a 5-11 senior forward from Wilmington, DE, poured in
24.3 points per-game while
adding 9.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals in a 2-1 week. She tossed in 27
points and pulled down nine rebounds against Felician and posted a
double-double (26 points, 12 rebounds) while shooting 9-for-14 from
the floor against Chestnut Hill. She scored her 2,000th career
point against the Griffins and became the leading scorer in
Wilmington University women's basketball history against Felician.
Simmons has been named CACC Player of the Week twice this season.
Latham, a freshman guard from Mystic, CT, averaged a double-double over three games last week with averages of 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per-game, while shooting 50-percent (16-for-32) from the field. She shot 9-for-12 en route to 22 points and nine rebounds against Bloomfield and added 15 points and 12 boards versus Felician.

Victoria Sweet, Nyack (Jr., F, 5-10, Harlem, NY) - Posted averages of 16.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per-game in a 2-1 week.
Quay Baskerville, Felician (Jr., F, 5-11, Hartford, CT ) - In a 2-1 week, averaged 15.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per-game.
Kirsty Leedham, Caldwell (Jr., G, 5-9, Ellesmere Port, England) - Averaged 24.0 points, 2.5 steals and 1.5 rebounds per-game in two contests last week.
Caitlin Shaw, USP (Jr., G, 5-8, Eatontown, NJ) - Led USP to a 3-0 week with 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per-game while shooting 56-percent FG's.
Lauren Peters, Holy Family (So., G, 5-6, Doylestown, PA) - Averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per-game in a 2-0 week.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons went 1-1 for the week and saw their five-game CACC winning streak snapped with a tough loss at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday. Junior center Tiffany McDaniel posted back-to-back solid efforts in the paint, averaging 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per-game. Gretchen Rodriguez recorded her best performance of the season in the win at Post, notching 14 points.
Caldwell - The Cougars lost a pair of CACC road games last week, falling to Nyack 60-41 on Thursday before losing to 19th-ranked Holy Family 68-62 on Saturday. Junior guard Kirsty Leedham scored her 1,000th career point in the loss to Nyack, becoming the 12th Caldwell women's basketball player to reach the milestone. Leedham also scored 28 points at Holy Family, marking the fourth straight game and the sixth time this season that she has scored at least 20 points. Caldwell has three CACC games this week: at home against Dominican on Tuesday, at Felician on Thursday and a home game with Philadelphia on Saturday.
Felician - Felician has more victories this season (11-7) than in the previous three years combined (10-74). In Saturday's loss at Wilmington, senior F/G Janelle Biamonte became the school's all-time leader in three-point field goals with her 130th, surpassing the 129 of Laurin Brown (2003-07). Biamonte also became the fifth female to reach 1,000 points in a Golden Falcons uniform. She has exactly 1,000 at Felician and 1,078 for her four-year collegiate careeer.
Georgian Court - The Lions held Post University to 12 second-half points in a 62-44 win over the Eagles Saturday afternoon in the GCU Wellness Center.
Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning have already tied their overall (nine) and conference (five) win totals from last season. After starting the season 1-7, they have won eight of their last 10 games.
Holy Family - Holy Family (17-1, 10-0 CACC) set the NCAA Division II record for most consecutive regular season conference wins with a 64-32 win over Goldey-Beacom on Thursday night. The win was the Tigers 93rd straight CACC regular season win. The streak started on 2/25/05 with a win at Caldwell College. Holy Family extended the streak to 94 after fighting off Caldwell, 68-62, on Saturday. Guard Lauren Peters scored a career-high 23 points in the win. Forward Catherine Carr is second in the CACC in scoring with 17.8 points per game. The Tigers are second in the NCAA Division II East Region Rankings and 19th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. Holy Family travels to Georgian Court (Tue.), Chestnut Hill (Thu.) and Bloomfield (Sat.) this week. The Tigers have won 17 games in a row.
Philadelphia - The Lady Rams were 2-1 last week, posting wins against Wilmington University and Concordia College. They will have two CACC contest next week, against Georgian Court at home on Thursday and at Caldwell on Saturday.
Post - This week Post University's Women's basketball team hosts Nyack on Tuesday night in addition to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday. Saturday will also be "Pink Zone" at the Drubner Center as the Eagles will take part in the WBCA promotion to bring awareness to breast cancer. This past week, the Eagles saw a new player emerge as a scoring threat in sophomore Monique Chance. Chance scored 32 points in three games last week while averaging 6.3 rebounds.
USP - USP won all three games this week to run their winning streak to five games, their longest since winning six in a row early in the 2007-08 season. Senior Erin Chesnavich (Pittston, Pa.) continues to lead the CACC in field goal percentage (62.0%) and is ranked 5th nationally. Caitlin Shaw (Eatontown, N.J.) recorded two consecutive double-doubles this week and now has four on the season. Shaw ranks third in the CACC in field goal percentage, shooting 52.4% from the field. As a team the Devils rank 67th nationally in field goal percentage (42%) and 76th in assists per game (14.9).
