NEW HAVEN, CT - Felician College senior Janelle Biamonte has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 20. Shawna Wert of Georgian Court University was the choice for Rookie of the Week.

Biamonte, a 5-9 senior guard/forward who hails from Secaucus, NJ, led Felician to a 2-0 week, including a 52-51 win over #19 Virginia State University. She averaged 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot 46.2-percent (6-for-13) from 3-point range for the week. She notched 15 points, six rebounds and two assists vs. VSU, and assisted on the game-winning basket with 7.2 seconds left on the clock.

Wert, a 5-7 freshman guard from Sewell, NJ, led Georgian Court to a win over Cheyney with 20 points, five assists and one steal. She shot 5-for-11 from the field, 3-for-4 from the arc and 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.

Jacinda Jones, Goldey-Beacom (So., G, 5-8, Claymont, DE) - Resistered 17 points, three rebounds and three steals at Millersville.

Torey Jones, Caldwell (Fr., G, 5-8, N. Providence, RI) - Averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week for the Cougars.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The host Cougars went 1-1 at the ECAC Holiday Classic this past weekend, losing to Le Moyne, 62-57 in overtime on Saturday before defeating East Stroudsburg, 61-53 on Sunday. Freshman guard Torey Jones had 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists to earn Player of the Game honors in the win over ESU. The victory ended a four-game losing streak for Caldwell, which doesn't play until Jan. 5 when the Cougars face Post in Waterbury, Conn.

Dominican - Senior Adele Laskowski was named the ECAC Holiday Classic Player of the Game on Dec. 20 against Le Moyne. Freshman teammate Shannon Lavelle was chosen Player of the Game on the 19th after a victory over East Stroudsburg.

Felician - Felician's win over No. 19 Virginia State on Friday is believed to be the program's first victory over a nationally-ranked team in its 14-year history. In that game, senior swing player Janelle Biamonte became the second female in school history to make 100 career three-point field goals (Laurin Brown). The Golden Falcons have won five consecutive games for the first time since December of 2001. During its current five-game winning streak, Felician has out-rebounded its opponents, 256-161.

Georgian Court - Suffering a 10-point defeat at Cheyney University on December 2nd, the Georgian Court University basketball squad successfully avenged that blemish on the schedule by dropping the Lady Wolves, 65-49, last Wednesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center. The Lions' contest vs. UMASS-Lowell was postponed due to the major snowstorm that hit the northeast.

Philadelphia - The Lady Rams dropped a non-conference game 58-54 to Saint Michael's on Sunday, ending a 10-day hiatus. They next face PSAC opponent Bloomsburg on Tuesday (12/22) in another non-league match-up at 3 p.m. at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
