NYACK'S MCINTOSH NAMED CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Kelsy McIntosh of Nyack College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 17. Shawna Wert of Georgian Court University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

McIntosh, a 5-9 senior guard from North Pole, Alaska, averaged 14.5 points per-game and shot 64-percent from both the field and 3-point range in a 2-0 week. She hit 9-of-14 shots from the field and 7-for-11 from long range. She notched 17 points and three rebounds in a big conference road win at Caldwell, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from the arc. Nyack is currently leading the CACC North Division with a 4-0 record, along with an 8-5 overall mark.

Wert, a 5-7 freshman guard from Sewell, NJ, was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. She averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week. She delivered 17 points, four rebounds and three assists against Goldey-Beacom and added 16 points, five assists and five steals in a win over Concordia.

Honorable Mention

Alyssa Hamm, USP (Jr., G, 5-3, Sharon Hill, PA) - Recorded a double-double at Wash. Adventist with 17 points and 10 rebounds, along with two assists.

Quay Baskerville, Felician (Jr., F, 5-11, Hartford, CT) - Registered 14 points, five assists and four rebounds in a win over Saint Anselm.

Dana Rommel, Concordia (Sr., F, 6-0, Staten Island, NY) - Tossed in 23 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Georgian Court.

Kirsty Leedham, Caldwell (Jr., G, 5-9, Ellesmere Port, England) - Chalked up 20 points and three rebounds in a loss to Nyack.

Devonne Richardson, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., F, 5-8, Baltimore, MD) - In a 2-0 week, averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per-game.

 

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars lost a close game to Nyack, 63-61 on Monday in their only action last week. Junior guard Kirsty Leedham led all players with 20 points. Caldwell plays three CACC games this week: at Chestnut Hill on Monday and home against Concordia Thursday and Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.

Felician - Felician finished 3-2 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents this season after entering the year having never beaten one. The Golden Falcons' last five victories - over Virginia State, Assumption, Pace, Philadelphia, and Saint Anselm, were the first wins in program history over each opponent. Senior F/G Janelle Biamonte is nine points shy of 1,000 for her combined collegiate career - she scored 78 points as a freshman at Montclair State University and has 913 at Felician.

Georgian Court - The Lions snapped their four-game losing streak to start 2010 with a 74-53 defeat of Concordia College on 1/16. GCU wraps its five-game homestand Tuesday (1/19) evening vs. USP

Goldey-Beacom - The Lightning are on a three-game win streak and have won five of their last six games.

Post - Since Post University's last game against Wilmington, the Eagles will have a 10 day break before traveling to New York to take on conference newcomer Concordia College. Following the game with Concordia, the Eagles will play at home for three straight conference games against Nyack, Goldey Beacom, and Concordia.

USP - In the only game last week, Alyssa Hamm (Sharon Hill, Pa.) recorded her first collegiate double-double with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds in USP's 79-46 win over Washington Adventist. Alyssa made two three-point field goals in the game, giving her 55 for her career and moving her into a tie for ninth place on the Devils all-time list. Erin Chesnavich (Pittston, Pa.) had the best shooting game by a USP player this season, making all seven of her shots against Washington Adventist while scoring 17 points. Chesnavich leads the CACC in field-goal percentage (62.2%) and ranks 10th nationally.
