WOMEN'S HOOPS PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS GO TO USP'S ERIN CHESNAVICH

NEW HAVEN, CT - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
senior Erin Chesnavich has
claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's
Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday,
Dec. 6. Post University's Aubrey Latham and Goldey-Beacom College's
Devonne Richardson garnered Co-Rookie of the Week honors.
Chesnavich, a 6-2 senior center from Pittston, PA, averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per-game in a 1-1 week for the Devils. She shot 67.9-percent (19-for-28) from the field and 75-percent (6-for-8) from the charity stripe on the week. She recorded 24 points and nine rebounds in an overtime victory over East Stroudsburg and added 20 points, six rebounds and two blocks at Kutztown.
Latham, a 5-8 freshman forward from Mystic, CT and Devonne Richardson, a 5-8 G/F from Baltimore, MD, both registered 19 points in their only contests last week. Latham added nine rebounds and three steals in a 72-63 win over Queens. She shot 8-for-15 from the field. Richardson made eight of her 12 shots from the floor and added six rebounds and four assists in a win over Washington Adventist.
Honorable Mention
Kirsty Leedham, Caldwell (Jr., G, 5-9, Ellesmere Port, England) - Averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per-game in a 1-1 week.
Kate Brennan, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 5-10, Stratford, NJ) - Registered 24 points, two assists and two steals in a loss to West Chester.
Dana Rommel, Concordia (Sr., F, 6-0, Staten Island, NY) - Scored her 1,000th career point with 19 against Bloomsburg. Added five rebounds and three steals.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars received votes in last week's USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, marking the second straight week that Caldwell appeared in the poll. The Cougars were victorious in their first home game of the season, a 63-56 win over Cheyney on Monday. Junior guard Kirsty Leedham scored a game-high 19 points, while freshman center Gillian Felix notched her third double-double in four games with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Caldwell also dropped its first CACC game of the season, falling at Dominican 77-72 on Wednesday. The Cougars look to even their conference record with a game at Bloomfield on Tuesday, followed by a non-league game at Adelphi on Saturday.
Concordia - Senior forward Dana Rommel scored her 1,000th career point in a loss to Bloomsburg last week. Both the men's and women's teams will open their first year in the CACC by hosting Felician College on Tuesday, Dec. 8th.
Georgian Court - After commencing the season with a victory, the Lions currently are mired in a five-game losing streak. GCU kicks off the CACC portion of its schedule on Thursday when they host Chestnut Hill College at 6:00 pm. Georgian Court will then travel to Holy Family University on Saturday for a 1:00 pm contest.
Holy Family - After 10 days off, Holy Family (3-1) returns to action with four games this week. The Tigers open their CACC schedule at Wilmington on Tuesday. Then, Holy Family is at home for its next three contests against Goldey-Beacom (Thu.), Georgian Court (Sat.) and American International (Sun.).
Philadelphia - The Lady Rams had a tough week, falling to non-conference opponent West Chester (12/2) 84-69. Philadelphia was led by senior forward Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/Sterling) who scored 24 points, dished out two assists and had one rebound. Senior Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals in the losing effort. The Lady Rams have two conference matches this week including Tuesday (12/8) at Goldey-Beacom and home Thursday (12/10) against Wilmington University.
Post - In last week's game against Queens, junior Elizabeth Johnson broke the 200 career rebound mark.
USP - Head Coach Paul Stadelberger earned his first victory as
USP's head coach Tuesday in a 64-62 overtime win over East
Stroudsburg. The Devils are now 3-1 in their last four overtime
games dating back to the 2001-02 season. Junior Marissa Chesnavich
(Pittston, Pa.) set three career-highs vs. East Stroudsburg, with
14 points, 16 rebounds and three blocked shots; it was also the
first double-double of her career and the first by a USP player
this season. Senior Erin Chesnavich (Pittston, Pa.) scored a
season-high 24 points vs. ESU and followed with a 20-point effort
vs. Kutztown. Erin's six rebounds vs. Kutztown moved her into sixth
place on the Devils all-time rebound list with 690 for her
career.
