LEEDHAM GARNERS CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Kirsty Leedham of Caldwell College has garnered
Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades
for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 22. Fellow Cougar Torey Jones was
tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Leedham, a 5-9 junior guard from Ellesmere Port, England, averaged 24.0 points and 4.0 steals per-game in leading Caldwell to a 1-1 week, including a big 72-70 overtime win over Bentley. She registered 30 points against Bentley after going 11-for-11 from the free-throw line. She also collected 18 points and three steals at UMass-Lowell.
Jones, a 5-8 freshman guard from North Providence, RI, averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per-game in a 1-1 week. She shot 46.4-percent (13-for-28) from the field for the week. She recorded 21 points, six rebounds and three steals vs. Bentley and contributed 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting at UMass-Lowell. This is the second straight week Jones has been the pick for CACC Rookie of the Week.

Catherine Carr, Holy Family (Jr., F, 6-0, Bedminster, NJ) - Posted 24 points, six rebounds and two blocks in a win over New Haven.
Taylor Magnus, Philadelphia (Sr., G, 5-8, Plymouth Meeting, PA) - Tallied 17 points, seven assists and two rebounds in a CACC win over Chestnut Hill.
Victoria Sweet, Nyack (Jr., F, 5-9, Harlem, NY) - In a 1-2 week, averaged 16.0 points and 11.0 rpg. Had 22 points and 13 rebounds vs. Bloomsburg.
Jacinda Jones, Goldey-Beacom (So., G, 5-8, Claymont, DE) - Posted averages of 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per-game in two contests last week.
Adele Laskowski, Dominican (Sr., F, 5-11, Wayne, NJ) - Posted averages of 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Lady Deacons lost a pair of tough contests over the weekend at the UMass-Lowell Tournament. Sophomore Nichole Hawkins was a force on the glass, pulling down 17 rebounds against Bentley and 14 against UMass-Lowell, both game-highs.
Caldwell - The Cougars followed up last week's upset of No. 9 Stonehill with a 72-70 victory over Bentley in overtime on Sunday at the UMass-Lowell Tournament. The two wins come against the top two teams in the Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Poll. Junior guard Kirsty Leedham had 30 points and five steals against Bentley, while freshman guard Torey Jones recorded a career-high 21 points, six boards and three steals. Caldwell opened the tournament with a 54-48 loss to UMass-Lowell, picked to finish 12th in the NE-10. Leedham scored 18 points, and freshman center Gillian Felix snared 16 rebounds to go with 10 points, three assists, two steals and two blocks. The Cougars host Cheyney University on Monday, Nov. 30 in the first home game of the season.
Felician - Senior F/G Janelle Biamonte was named to the All-Tournament team of the Assumption Courtyard Marriott Classic. She recorded a double-double (12p 11r) in a loss to nationally-ranked Stonehill.
Georgian Court - For the first time since 2002-03, the Georgian Court basketball squad opened a campaign at 1-0 as the Lions took care of visiting Mercy College, 62-54, in the season opener Wednesday evening. Georgian Court last won a season opener on November 23rd, 2002, with a win over Rhode Island College, 81-68. GCU played in the 2009 Pitt-Johnstown Lady Cat Classic over the weekend, falling to both host Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock University. Christina White was selected to the All-Classic team, averaging 8.0 points and 10.5 boards in the two games.
Goldey-Beacom - Jacinda Jones scored half of the team's points (30) in a 66-60 loss to Cheyney on Sat. afternoon. She is the first Lightning play to score 30 points in a game since sophomore guard Evebonee Acosta drained 31 back on Dec. 1, 2008, in an 84-51 win over Columbia Union.
Holy Family - Holy Family University, ranked 17th in the USA Today/ESPN Preseason Coaches Poll, defeated the University of New Haven on Saturday, 57-44. Forward Catherine Carr led the Tigers with 24 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Guard Lauren Peters added 10 points. Forward Christine McCollum added 12 rebounds and three assists. McCollum is 109 points away from joining Carr in the 1,000-point club. This week, Holy Family travels to Kutztown on Tuesday and C.W. Post on Saturday.
Philadelphia - The defending CACC Champion Lady Rams got off to
the start they were hoping for in conference play with a 66-60
victory over Chestnut Hill on Wednesday. Senior guard Taylor Magnus
(Plymouth Meeting/Plymouth-Whitemarsh ) led her team with 17 points
while senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham)
added 13 points and six rebounds. The women will be back in action
Tuesday (11/24) when they travel to take on Shippensburg
University.
