CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's
basketball team was included in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top
25 Coaches' Poll for the second straight week, according to
the poll released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The Cougars received five points this week after making their first
appearance in the national poll last week with nine points.
Caldwell, coached by Linda Cimino, improved to 3-1
on the season with Monday's 63-56 victory over Cheyney University
in the Cougars' home-opener. Junior guard Kirsty
Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) made four
three-pointers en route to a game-high 19 points. Leedham leads the
Cougars in scoring at 18.8 points per game this season. Also
playing well against Cheyney was freshman center Gillian
Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac), who registered her third
double-double in four games with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go
with five steals and two blocks. For her efforts, Felix was named
the Star of the Report by Stephen Zerdelian of the East Regional
Women's Hoops Report.
The USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by
30 Division II head coaches across the country. Last week's
appearance in the poll was the first time since becoming a full
member of the NCAA Division II in 2002 that the Cougars have been
included in the national rankings.
Caldwell begins its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule
tonight with a game at Dominican College. Game time is set for 6:00
p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
