TONI JONES NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WOMEN'S HOOPS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Toni Jones of Goldey-Beacom College has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 3. Mallorie Michalak of Post University picked up Rookie of the Week honors.
Jones, a 5-9 senior guard/forward from Lewes, DE, averaged 27.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per-game in a 1-1 week for the Lightning. She tallied 29 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 71-64 win over USP. She also put up 26 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Philadelphia. She shot 56.3-percent (18-for-32) from the field for the week and 85.7-percent (18-for-21) from the free-throw line.
Michalak, a 5-0 freshman guard from Meriden, CT, averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per-game in a 1-1 week. She shot 45.5-percent (10-22) from the field. She tallied 18 points and seven assists in a home victory against Nyack.
Honorable Mention
Dee Varley, Georgian Court (So., F, 6-1, Little Egg Harbor, NJ) - Averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week.
Althea Chambers, Dominican (Jr., G, 5-7, Yonkers, NY) - Tallied averages of 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per-game in a 2-0 week.
Ashley Webster, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 5-10, Philadelphia, PA) - Averaged a double-double for the week with 15.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per-game.
Stephanie Goss, Post (Jr., G/F, 5-9, Manchester, CT) - Registered 17.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars' 76-41 victory over Felician on Saturday was their 12th win of the season, the most wins in one year since 2003-04. Freshman guard Kirsty Leedham had a game-high 21 points, marking the third time this season that she has scored 20 or more points in a game. Caldwell plays its next five games on the road, including important CACC North contests at Post, Bloomfield and Nyack this week.
Felician - Sophomore forward Janelle Biamonte, Felician's leading scorer, recorded her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a loss at Caldwell on Saturday.
Georgian Court - Sophomore forward Dee Varley went 8-for-9 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the first half on her way to a season-high 30 points in a win over Chestnut Hill. She added five assists and five steals in the game. Senior Steph Longdo dropped in a lay-up with 4:19 remaining in the game to notch her 1,000th career points. The win on Saturday over the Griffins was GCU's first at home since December 18th against Wilmington.
Holy Family - Holy Family is 19-0 after winning a pair of conference games last week. The Tigers defeated Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, 83-43. Forward Catherine Carr led five players in double-figures with 13 points. On Thursday, Holy Family took down Felician, 85-47. Guard Kelly Killion recorded 16 points. Guard Lauren Boyer didn't miss a shot (4-4 FG, 3-3 3-PT, 4-4 FT) to finish with a career-high 15 points. Holy Family is ranked first in the opening set of NCAA Northeast Regional Rankings and eighth in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. The Tigers visit Wilmington on Tuesday and Philadelphia on Saturday.
Philadelphia - Head Coach Tom Shirley's team had its three-game winning streak snapped with the loss at Wilmington University on Saturday. Senior forward Ashley Webster, the newest member of the Philadelphia University women's basketball 1,000-point club, needs just 35 points to move into 22nd place all-time in school history. Currently, Webster also ranks in the top ten in school history in rebounding (838/5th place), steals (201/6th place) and blocked shots (85/6th place).
USP - In the last NCAA statistics report, Erin Chesnavich is ranked 16th nationally in field goal percentage (57.8%); 54th nationally in blocked shots (1.6/gm) and 47th nationally in rebounding (9.2 ppg.). Allison Weiss is ranked 42nd nationally in rebounds (9.4) and 56th nationally in free throw percentage (82.6%). Caitlin Shaw is ranked 65th nationally in free throw percentage (81.6%). USP as a team is ranked 12th nationally in free throw percentage (75.9%); 6th in fewest personal fouls committed per game (13.8); 58th in field goal percentage defense (37.3%), 64th in rebound margin (3.8) and 68th in blocked shots/game (3.4). Allison Weiss moved up to 16th on the Devils all-time scoring list with 764 career points and 12th on USP's all-time assist list with 166 for her career. Chesnavich moved up to 20th on the Devils' all-time scoring list and now has 604 career points. Erin also moved into 19th place on the Devils all-time rebounding list with 331 for her career and 7th on USP's all-time blocked shot list (63 career blocks).
