WILMINGTON'S SIMMONS NAMED CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Amelia Simmons of Wilmington University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 25. Catherine Carr of Holy Family University was the choice for Rookie of the Week.

Simmons, a 5-11 guard/forward from Wilmington, DE, tallied 21 points, 19 rebounds and two blocks in a 76-58 triumph over Lock Haven University. She shot 8-for-14 (.570) from the field, 2-for-5 from 3-point range and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.

Carr, a 6-0 freshman forward from Bernardsville, NJ, averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two victories last week. She recorded 26 points and five rebounds in a 69-57 win over Bridgeport. She added 12 points, five assists and four boards in a 71-59 victory against Saint Michael's.

Honorable Mention

Adele Laskowski, Dominican (So., F, 5-9, Wayne, NJ) - Posted 16 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and three assists in a 78-61 win at Dowling.

Ashley Webster, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 5-10, Philadelphia, PA) - In two games, averaged 17.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per-game.

Stephanie Goss, Post (Jr., F, 5-9, Manchester, CT) - Scored 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals vs. NYIT.

Christy Porter, Nyack (So., G, 5-8, Highland, NY) - Recorded 16 points, six assists, three rebounds and hit the go-ahead shot in a win over Mercy.

CACC Notes

Felician - This is the first season since 1997-98 that Felician has opened with two home games. The Golden Falcons are 0-2 despite their opponents committing 54 turnovers.

Georgian Court - Georgian Court has won two straight games as they head into a match-up with Queens on Nov. 26. The Lions open their CACC schedule on Saturday, Dec. 1, against Goldey-Beacom.

Holy Family - Holy Family is 4-0 after winning a pair of games last week. The Tigers won its home opener on November 20 by defeating the University of Bridgeport, 69-57. Forward Catherine Carr had a career-high 26 points on 12 of 19 shooting. She added five rebounds. Center Christine McCollum recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Meghan Gibson added 10 points. On Saturday, Holy Family knocked off St. Michael's College, 71-59. The win was the Tigers third straight by 12 points. Guard Kelly Killion went 7 of 12 from three-point range to finish with a season-high 25 points. McCollum scored 14 points and Carr had 12 points. Holy Family is off until Saturday, December 1 when it opens its CACC schedule at the University of the Sciences at 1 p.m.

Post - Stephanie Goss leads the team with 15.0 points per game through two games this season, she also leads the team with 15 rebounds (7.5 per game). Junior Cortensia "Coco" Davis and senior Natasha Box each had their first double-doubles for the Eagles against the Bears. Davis had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Box chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds
