USP'S CHESNAVICH GARNERS CACC WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Erin Chesnavich of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, January 6. Jacinda Jones of Goldey-Beacom College has claimed Rookie of the Week accolades.

Chesnavich, a 6-2 sophomore forward from Pittston, PA, shot 8-for-9 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in a 73-38 triumph over Felician on Saturday. She tallied 18 points in the game, along with four rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 21 efficient minutes.

Jones, a 5-8 freshman guard/forward from Concord, DE, posted 15 points, five rebounds and two steals in a 77-40 home victory over Post on Saturday. She shot 5-for-7 from the field, 1-for-2 from long range and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe. Jones has been named Rookie of the Week twice this season, also earning the award on December 3.

Honorable Mention

Marissa Franklin, Bloomfield (Sr., F, 5-10, Pleasantville, NJ) - Registered 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a loss at Holy Family.

Jenna Beck, Chestnut Hill (So., F, 5-9, Philadelphia, PA) - Averaged 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per-game in two contests last week.

Toni Jones, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., F, 5-9, Lewes, DE) - Recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists in a win over Post.

Christy Porter, Nyack (So., G, 5-8, Highland, NY) - Finished with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Kelly Killion, Holy Family (Sr., G, 5-6, Pennsauken, NJ) - Tallied 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in a victory against Bloomfield.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars lost their only game last week, a double-overtime thriller against Wilmington Jan. 5 that saw the Wildcats come back to tie the game at the end of regulation and the first overtime period to earn a 90-82 win. Senior guard Dana Leary led the Cougars with 18 points, while junior forward Mackenzie Lynch grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds to go with 12 points. Caldwell recorded a season-high 23 assists as a team, led by seven from freshman guard Abena George.

Holy Family - Holy Family University, ranked 11th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, moved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the CACC after a 65-57 win over Bloomfield in a battle of division leaders. The Tigers received 16 points from guard Kelly Killion and 15 points from forward Catherine Carr. Carr is the team's leading scorer with 15.4 ppg. Center Christine McCollum is tops on the Tigers with 8.0 rpg, 15 steals and 11 blocks. She averages 12.3 ppg. Killion pours in 11.8 ppg and has 49 assists (second in the CACC). Holy Family plays once this week, a home game against Post on Tuesday.

USP - Erin Chesnavich and Allison Weiss moved into a tie for 10th place on the Devils all-time block list on Saturday recording two and one block respectively. Both have 44 career blocked shots. Weiss also moved into 12th place on the Devils all time free throws made list, going 5-5 on Saturday to bring her career total to 170. In the last NCAA statistics report, USP's Hayley Lentz is ranked 16th nationally in assist/turnover ratio (3.5). Chesnavich is ranked 19th nationally in field goal percentage (58.7%); 42nd nationally in free throw percentage (86.4%) and 84th nationally in blocked shots (1.3/gm). Weiss is ranked 81st nationally in rebounds (8.3) and Caitlin Shaw is ranked 87th nationally in free throw percentage (82.6%). USP as a team is ranked 19th nationally in free throw percentage (76.1%) and 9th in fewest personal fouls committed per game (14.0).
