CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars defeated Post and Georgian Court last week to improve to 11-6 on the season. The 11 victories eclipse last year's total of 10 with 10 games yet to play. Caldwell hasn't won 12 games in a season since the 2003-04 campaign, when the team finished 12-16.

Felician - Senior forward Dee Dee Smith scored a career-high 25 points in last Wednesday's loss at Dominican. It is the highest individual single-game point total by any Golden Falcon in the past two seasons.

Georgian Court - Senior Steph Longdo dropped in six points on Saturday versus Caldwell and now needs five more points to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Holy Family - Holy Family stayed undefeated after picking up two wins in the last week. The Tigers defeated USP on Tuesday, 74-52. Forward Catherine Carr led the team with 22 points. Guard Kelly Killion added 17 points, six assists and five rebounds. Center Christine McCollum poured in 11 points, and guard Melissa Brooks has six points, seven rebounds and four blocks. On Saturday, Holy Family edged Bentley, 62-57. Killion led the way with 16 points and seven boards. McCollum and Carr had 12 points each. Guard Alana Arthurs scored 11. Holy Family, ranked 10th in the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, is now 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the CACC. The Tigers are one of three teams to still be undefeated. Holy Family begins a five-game road trip on Tuesday at Chestnut Hill. Thursday, the Tigers visit Felician.

Philadelphia - Head coach Tom Shirley is now just two wins shy of number 550 for his 27-year career. This includes 399 wins at Philadelphia U., where he is in the midst of his 19th season at the helm. Shirley aims for numbers 400 and 550 as his squad faces their South Division rivals from the state of Delaware this week. Goldey-Beacom comes to the Gallagher Center on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and Philadelphia travels to Wilmington for a 1:00 p.m. matinee on Sat., Feb. 2. The Lady Rams have a four-game home win streak, dating back to the first encounter of the season with the Wildcats on Dec. 21 when Wilmington took the 83-71 decision. Through games of Jan. 20, Philadelphia was 4th in Division II in free-throw percentage, connecting at a 78.6% clip (304-387). Testament to their foul-line prowess is that the Lady Rams had the most attempts among teams ranked in the top 10 nationwide. The Lady Rams are 9-2 this season when they scoring 70 or more points.

USP - USP has now outrebounded their opponent in 11 straight games. In the last NCAA statistics report, Erin Chesnavich is ranked 20th nationally in field goal percentage (57.0%); 37th in blocked shots (1.8/gm); 63rd in free throw percentage (82.0%) and 48th in rebounding (9.3 ppg.). Allison Weiss is ranked 51st nationally in rebounds (9.1) and 73rd nationally in free throw percentage (81.3%). Caitlin Shaw is ranked 35th nationally in free throw percentage (84.8%) and USP as a team is ranked 13th in free throw percentage (75.8%); 9th in fewest personal fouls committed per game (14.1) and 63rd in field goal percentage defense (37.3%). Weiss moved up to 8th on the Devils' all-time rebound list this week and now has 575 for her career, and 17th on the Devils all-time scoring list with 747 career points.
