NEW HAVEN, CT - Erin Chesnavich of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia has claimed Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the second consecutive week. Jacinda Jones, a freshman at Goldey-Beacom College, was named Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, as well.

Chesnavich, a 6-2 sophomore forward from Pittston, PA, led USP to a 3-0 week with averages of 17.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per-game, while shooting 62.9-percent from the field. USP upended Caldwell, Bloomfield and Goldey-Beacom to move into second place in the CACC's South Division with a 4-1 record. She posted 28 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks against Goldey-Beacom and added 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting, and 11 rebounds at Caldwell.

Jones, a 5-8 freshman guard/forward from Concord, DE, averaged 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per-game in three contests last week. She registered 22 points and nine rebounds at USP and collected 21 points and three rebounds at Mansfield.

Honorable Mention

Toni Jones, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., F, 5-9, Lewes, DE) - Averaged 25 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per-game in a 1-2 week.

Althea Chambers, Dominican (Jr., F, 5-7, Yonkers, NY) - In a 2-0 week, averaged 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals per-game.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - In the latest national statistical rankings that included games through Jan. 6, the Cougars ranked 10th in steals, 25th in three-point field goal percentage and 30th in scoring offense. Individually, junior Mackenzie Lynch was 15th in rebounding and freshman Stephanie Cadet was 34th in three-point field goal percentage.

Felician - Felician's 51-49 victory over Nyack on Saturday was its first home conference win since Feb. 25, 2006, after 14 such losses. Junior center Kim Dunay scored the game-winning basket while participating in her only offensive possession of the second half. Dunay averages 7.7 minutes per game and played just two minutes on Saturday. Junior forward Amanda Bartee grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in that game. Last Tuesday, Felician and Georgian Court combined to attempt 79 free throws.

Georgian Court - The Lions have lost two straight games and five of their last six. After defeating Felician on Tuesday, GCU lost to Columbia Union and Post. Senior Steph Longdo poured in a season-high 18 points off the bench in the 64-59 victory at Felician on Tuesday.

Holy Family - Holy Family cracked the top-10 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll last Tuesday. Later that night, the Tigers routed Post University 79-41. Forward Catherine Carr led the way with 13 points. Guard Kelly Killion added 12. Forward Lindsey Tennett had 11 points and seven rebounds. Carr is leading the team in scoring (15.2 ppg). Center Christine McCollum is averaging 12.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg. Killion is pouring in 11.8 ppg. The Tigers have a busy week with three CACC games on tap. Holy Family hosts Wilmington on Tuesday and Caldwell on Saturday. The Tigers visit Goldey-Beacom on Thursday.

USP - USP has outrebounded their opponent in six straight games, posting a 5-1 record during this stretch. Junior Allison Weiss moved into 18th place on the Devils all-time scoring list this week and now has 675 career points. Weiss also became just the 12th player in Devils history to record 500 or more career rebounds, reaching the milestone vs. Caldwell. With 523 career boards, Weiss is now 11th on the Devils all-time list. Weiss also moved up to 11th on USP's all-time free throw list this week, going 15-16 from the line to improve her career total to 185. In the last NCAA statistics report, Erin Chesnavich is ranked 10th nationally in field goal percentage (61.2%); 30th in free throw percentage (86.7%); 80th in blocked shots (1.3/gm) and 82nd in scoring (16.2 ppg.). Weiss is ranked 53rd nationally in rebounds (8.8). USP as a team is ranked 8th nationally in free throw percentage (77.5%); 7th in fewest personal fouls committed per game (13.9) and 72nd in field goal percentage (42.9%).
