MCCOLLUM NAMED WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Christine McCollum of Holy Family University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 16. Holy Family freshman Catherine Carr was the choice for Rookie of the Week.

McCollum, a 6-1 sophomore from Abington, PA, helped lead Holy Family to the NCAA Northeast Region Championship game, which will be played Monday night. In two tournament games thus far, she has averaged 11.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per-game while shooting 64.2-percent from the field.

Carr, a 6-0 forward from Bernardsville, NJ, averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game in two NCAA Tournament games. She tallied 13 points against both Molloy and Assumption. Carr was named the CACC Rookie of the Week eight times in 2007-08.

Honorable Mention

Amelia Simmons, Wilmington (So., F, 5-11, Wilmington, DE) - Averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in leading Wilmington to an ECAC Tournament title.

Ashley Webster, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 5-10, Philadelphia, PA) - Tallied 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in an ECAC Tournament semifinal loss.

Dana Leary, Caldwell (Sr., G, 5-7, Bridgewater, NJ) - Averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per-game in a 1-1 week at the ECAC Tournament.

Althea Chambers, Dominican (Jr., G, 5-7, Yonkers, NY) - Scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a NCAA Tournament loss to Franklin Pierce.
