HOLY FAMILY WOMEN CHOSEN AS HOST AND TOP SEED FOR NCAA DIVISION II NORTHEAST REGION TOURNAMENT

NEW HAVEN, CT-Holy Family University has been chosen as the host institution and top seed for the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Women's Basketball Tournament, which will begin on Friday, March 14. Fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) member, Dominican College, will serve as the sixth seed in the eight-team tournament. Holy Family will host the tournament at its Campus Center.
Holy Family will face East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament Champion Molloy College in Friday's quarterfinal round at 6:00 pm. Dominican will meet No. 3 Franklin Pierce University out of the Northeast-10 Conference at 3:00 pm.
Holy Family, led by 13th-year head coach Mike McLaughlin, enters the tournament with a perfect 30-0 record and is ranked fourth nationally. The Tigers are one of three teams to be undefeated in all of Division II. On Saturday, Holy Family won the CACC Tournament Championship for the third time in four years to claim an automatic berth into the tournament. It is the fifth consecutive season that the Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Holy Family reached the semifinal round before falling to eventual national champion Southern Connecticut State University.
Holy Family is led by the two-time CACC Player of the Year, senior point guard Kelly Killion. Killion is averaging 12.1 points per-game to go with 142 assists (4.7 per-game) and 25 steals. She also leads the CACC with a 2.77 assist:turnover ratio. Freshman Catherine Carr has also emerged as a leader for the Tigers. Carr, a 6-0 forward, was named the CACC Rookie of the Year and CACC Tournament MVP. She is leading the team in scoring with 15.5 ppg and was a second team All-CACC pick. Sophomore center Christine McCollum was named to the All-CACC third team.
Molloy (19-11) made the tournament for the first time in program history after winning the ECC Tournament Championship on Sunday to earn the No. 8 seed. The Lions are getting 17.0 ppg and 10.6 rebounds per-game from forward Kymira Woodberry, the ECC Player of the Year.
Dominican fell in the CACC Championship game to Holy Family and enters the week with a 22-8 record. This is the first NCAA Tournament appearance for the Chargers. Dominican is led by second team All-CACC performers, senior guard Dana Rotio and sophomore forward Adele Laskowski. Junior guard Althea Chambers was an honorable mention selection. Chambers leads the squad in scoring (12.3 ppg) and rebounds (6.8 rpg). Laskowski averages 12.0 ppg and Rotio chips in 11.4 ppg and leads the CACC with 3.23 steals per-game.
The Chargers will face the No. 3 seed, Franklin Pierce, who checks in with a 24-5 record after falling in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament. The Ravens are led by the NE-10 Player of the Year, sophomore guard Johanna Leedham, who leads the conference in scoring and steals with 22.0 ppg and 3.39 steals per-game.
The winner of the quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 15. The Northeast Region final will be held on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. The region champion will go on to play in the Elite Eight that will be held in Kearney, NE, from March 26-29.
