PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY TO HOST ECAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

March 11, 2008

NEW HAVEN, CT-Philadelphia University will host the 2007-08 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Basketball Tournament this weekend at the Gallagher Center. The four-team tournament will include No. 1 Wilmington University, No. 2 Philadelphia, No. 3 Caldwell College and No. 4 Adelphi University. The semifinals of the tournament will be held on Friday, March 14, and the championship will be played on Saturday.

The top-seeded Wildcats completed the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and a 13-5 finish in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games. Wilmington fell to Dominican College in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament. The Wildcats will face Adelphi at 7:00 pm in Friday's semifinal round. Adelphi ended the 2008 campaign with a 14-14 mark and went 12-8 in the East Coast Conference. Adelphi played in last season's ECAC Tournament, falling in the semifinal round.

Philadelphia and Caldwell will start the action with a 5:00 pm contest on Friday. Both squads lost in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament last week. Philadelphia was defeated by Wilmington, 77-69, and Caldwell lost at Bloomfield, 72-59. Philadelphia is currently 19-9 after going 12-6 in conference play. The Lady Rams fell in last season's ECAC Tournament Championship to Dominican. Caldwell is 17-11 overall and completed the conference slate with a 10-7 mark.
