CENTERVILLE, MA - Coming off her second consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women's basketball player Erin Chesnavich was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance during the week ending January 13, 2008.

In the Devils three games last week, Chesnavich, a 6-2 sophomore, averaged 17.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as USP won all three games and improved to 6-6 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.

Chesnavich capped off her week with a 28-point performance against CACC southern division rival Goldey Beacom College, as the Devils came from behind to win 70-67. Erin made 11 of 16 shots from the field and six of seven from the free throw line. In the second half alone, Chesnavich scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. The 6'2 forward finished her stellar performance by blocking a game-tying three point attempt in the final seconds to preserve the three-point win. The block was her fifth of the game, tying her career-high.

Erin opened the week with a 15-point, 11-rebuond effort as the Devils defeated Caldwell College on the road, 62-54. Chesnavich shot 7-for-8 from the field, was one of two from the free throw line and added a blocked shot on the evening.

Sandwiched in between the two games was a nine-point, 10 rebound effort at Bloomfield College where the Devils defeated the Deacons 57-45. For the week, Chesnavich shot 62.9% from the field (22-35) and 72.7% (8-11) from the free throw line, scoring a total 52 points. Erin pulled down 36 rebounds and had seven blocks in the Devils three games.

The former Bishop O'Reilly High School athlete is in her second season of play for the Devils. Erin currently leads the Devils in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game; ranking fourth in the CACC. She is also USP's and the CACC's leading shooter and shot blocker, connecting on 61.7% of her shots (82-133) while average 1.58 blocks per game. Chesnavich ranks fourth in the CACC in free throw percentage (82.9%) and ninth in rebounding (7.8/gm.). Nationally, Erin was seventh amongst all NCAA Division II players in field goal percentage and 49th in blocked shots through games of January 13, 2008.

Chesnavich is majoring in biology at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
