ALL-MET WOMEN'S TEAM ANNOUNCED; BURKE NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR

NEW HAVEN, CT-Dominican College head women's basketball coach, John Burke, has been named the All-Metropolitan Division II Coach of the Year in an announcement made today. In his seventh year at the helm, Burke guided the Chargers to a 22-9 overall record, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game appearance and the first NCAA tournament berth in school history. Furthermore, six players from CACC schools earned All-Met accolades. Mackenzie Lynch of Caldwell College and Dana Rotio and Adele Laskowski of Dominican were first team selections. Bloomfield College forward Marissa Franklin, Althea Chambers of Dominican and Dana Leary of Caldwell College earned second team recognition.

Lynch, a 5-11 forward, was selected to the All CACC third team after leading Caldwell in scoring and rebounding for the second straight year. She ranked fifth in the CACC in rebounding with 9.4 rebounds per-game and ninth in scoring at 12.9 points per-game.

Rotio, a senior guard from Garfield, NJ, averaged 11.3 ppg this season and led the team with a 110 assists and 99 steals. She was ranked 24th in the CACC in scoring, fifth in assists, first in steals and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage. For her efforts, she was named to the All-CACC Second Team.

Laskowski, a sophomore forward from Wayne, NJ, finished second on the Lady Chargers with 11.9 ppg and 4.0 rpg. She was ranked 20th in the CACC in scoring and 15th in steals and 3-point field goals made. She was also named to the All-CACC Second Team in 2007-08.

Franklin, a senior forward from Pleasantville, NJ, led the Deacons in scoring this season (12.8 ppg) and was third in rebounds with 4.6 per-contest. She was an honorable mention All-CACC pick.

Chambers, a junior guard from Yonkers, NY, led Dominican in both scoring and rebounding with 12.4 ppg and 7.1 rpg. She ranked 14th in the CACC in scoring, 16th in rebounding, eight in steals and sixth in offensive rebounds. For her efforts she received All-CACC Honorable Mention honors.

Leary, a 5-7 guard from Bridgewater, NJ, received CACC honorable mention honors after averaging a career-best 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while ranking third in the CACC in field goal percentage (.511).
