CALDWELL, N.J. - Elmont Memorial High School guards Stephanie Cadet and Abena George have signed National Letters of Intent to play women's basketball at Caldwell College, Cougars' head coach Linda Cimino announced. Both will enroll at Caldwell College in the fall of 2007.

Cadet and George helped Elmont Memorial win two conference titles and make two appearances in the Nassau County championship during their careers. With Cadet and George in the backcourt, Elmont, under head coach Gregg Petrocelli, compiled a record of 38-4 over the past two seasons.

"Both players have played on a high school team that is one of the most respected programs in New York," Cimino said. "Elmont is a top team on Long Island and will look to compete for the Long Island championship this year. They are very well-coached and disciplined, and both will make an immediate impact here at Caldwell."

Cadet, a 5-foot-6 point guard, was named all-Nassau County as a junior after averaging 12 points, five assists and three steals per game. "Stephanie is a floor leader who will excel running our offense," Cimino said. "She is a good passer and an excellent shooter from the perimeter."

The 5-foot-5 George earned all-conference accolades last season, averaging nine points and six assists per contest as a junior. A strong defender, George also swiped four steals per game. "Abena is one of the fastest players I've seen on the court," Cimino said. "She will contribute on the defensive end, and will be looked upon to guard our opponents' top players."

Currently, the Cougars are 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference midway through Cimino's first year as head coach. Caldwell will lose four seniors, including three guards, at the end of this season.
