TRACEY-SPITALERI EARNS WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Dominican College senior Jackie Tracey-Spitaleri has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the weekn ending Sunday, February 4th. Amelia Simmons of Wilmington College has been tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Tracey-Spitaleri, a 5-6 senior guard from Bronx, NY, filled the box score with totals of 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists and seven steals in a 75-63 victory over Bloomfield on Thursday. She shot 6-for-12 from the field and 10-for-14 from the free-throw line.


Simmons, a 5-11 freshman guard/forward from Wilmington, DE, posted averages of 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. She shot 20-for-40 (.500) from the field and tallied 33 points and 12 rebounds versus Georgian Court. She concluded the week by providing the game-winning lay-up at the buzzer to defeat Philadelphia on Thursday.

Honorable Mention

Alisha Ferguson, Philadelphia - Tallied 22 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Wilmington.

Erin Chesnavich, USP - Averaged 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Devils.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - Sophomore forward Mackenzie Lynch came close to recording a triple-double in last Thursday's 68-51 win at Felician College. Lynch had 16 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high eight steals to help the Cougars snap a three-game losing streak. The game marked the 10th double-double of the season for Lynch, who is averaging 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Felician - Felician's opponents combined for 63 turnovers in two games last week. Senior guard Laurin Brown canned her 100th career three-point field goal on Jan. 18 vs. Nyack.

Goldey-Beacom - With Saturday's win over Nyack College, the Lightning set a new school record for most wins in a season with 14.

Philadelphia - Senior center Alisha Ferguson is closing in on the 1,000th rebound of her career, needing just 23 more to reach the milestone. A team co-captain, Ferguson would become just the third women's player in school history to record 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Senior forward Meg Abele needs just 61 points to become the 22nd women's player in school history with 1,000 career points and the third for the Lady Rams this season (Nicole Mechell, Alisha Ferguson).

USP - USP has now won nine of its last ten games. With three assists vs. Goldey Beacom, Rashanna Edwards moved into second place on the Devils all-time list, and now has 385 for her career. In the latest NCAA statistics release, the Devils are ranked third nationally in free throw percentage (78.9%), 11th nationally in blocked shots per game (4.7) and 25th in scoring defense (56.8pts./gm). Shelby Rance is ranked 22nd nationally in free throw percentage (87.7)and 60th in scoring (16.9) while Lori Sedina is ranked 38th in blocked shots (1.6/gm). Edwards is ranked 33rd in assists (4.9) and Allison Weiss 58th in rebounds (8.7).
