HOLY FAMILY'S KILLION NAMED WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Kelly Killion of Holy Family University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 18th. Amelia Simmons of Wilmington College has earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the sixth time this season.
Killion, a 5-6 junior point guard from Pennsauken, NJ, registered a season-high 27 points on Thursday in a victory against Goldey-Beacom. She followed that effort by sinking 7-of-10 three-pointers and scoring 25 points with four blocks against Dominican. She averaged 26.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per-game and shot 60-percent from long range (12-20) in a 2-0 week.
Simmons, a 5-11 freshman forward from Wilmington, DE, averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per-game and shot 44-percent on three-pointers despite the Wildcats' 0-2 week. She scored 24 points in Thursday's loss to Bloomfield.
Honorable Mention
Marissa Franklin, Bloomfield - Averaged 22.0 points and 15.0 rebounds and shot 54 percent in the Deacons' 2-0 week.
Marjorie Prado, Post - In a 2-0 week for the Eagles, shot 52 percent and averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 steals.
Meg Abele, Philadelphia - Recorded 34 points and eight rebounds in a win at USP. Averaged 22.0 points and 5.3 boards in the Rams' 3-0 week.
CACC Notes
Felician: Dee Dee Smith's 22 points in Thursday's win at Nyack matched the most any Golden Falcon has scored this season. Smith also had 22 in a Nov. 18 loss at Bryant. The victory was Felician's first since Nov. 21, ending a program-worst 21-game losing streak. The Golden Falcons also snapped strings of 19 straight CACC losses (since winning last year's regular-season finale against Goldey-Beacom), 16 road losses and 20 non-home setbacks in a row (since winning at Wilmington on Feb. 2, 2006). Senior guard Terry Sues scored a career-high 17 points in the victory.
Georgian Court: Freshman guard Jamee Bush scored a season-high 20 points against Philadelphia on Thursday. GCU travels to Dominican on Tuesday in a game originally scheduled for Feb. 13. Dominican defeated Georgian Court, 66-54, earlier this season.
Post: Post has won three games in a row and five of its last seven to improve to 8-11 in CACC play. Last week the Eagles defeated Caldwell, 74-69, and Wilmington to move into the eighth and final playoff spot in the CACC race. Senior Marjorie Prado had 18 points in the win over Caldwell, while senior Telisha Moultrie chipped in with 18 as well. Senior Tadj Williams led the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds. In the final regular-season game at the Drubner Center on Saturday, Prado led the way with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Williams notched her third double-double of the season and fourth in a row with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Moultrie recorded her third double-double of the season and second in a row with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Post will close the regular season with three road games this week, beginning on Tuesday at Bloomfield in a make-up from Feb. 13. The Eagles will then head to Dominican on Thursday, and finish the regular season at Georgian Court on Saturday afternoon.
USP: Shelby Rance recorded the Devils' first four-point play in two seasons during Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia. USP has won 11 of its last 14 games. Rashanna Edwards became the second women's player in school history to record 400 career assists, reaching the mark late in the first half on Tuesday. She now has 402. Rance became the seventh Devil to record 200 career steals with two against the Rams, leaving her with exactly 200. In the latest NCAA statistics release, the Devils are ranked sixth nationally in free throw percentage (77.5%), 10th in blocked shots per game (4.9) and 29th in scoring defense (57.3 ppg). Rance is ranked 21st nationally in free-throw percentage (86.3) and 94th in scoring (15.7) while Lori Sedina is ranked 34th in blocked shots (1.8). Edwards is ranked 44th in assists (4.7) and 88th in free-throw percentage (80.4). Erin Chesnavich is ranked 22nd in field-goal percentage (54.2) and 52nd in blocked shots (1.5) while Allison Weiss is 92nd in rebounds (8.2/gm).
