FERGUSON AND SIMMONS EARN CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Alisha Ferguson of Philadelphia University has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 19. Amelia Simmons of Wilmington College has earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Ferguson, a 5-11 senior center from Fort Washington, PA, started the season by averaging 23.0 points and 22.0 rebounds in two games for the Lady Rams. She opened with a 32-point, 24-rebound performance against Concordia and followed with a 14-point, 20-rebound effort against NYIT. She also posted averages of 3.0 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists per-game.


Simmons, a freshman from Wilmington, DE, poured in 36 points in her collegiate debut against Columbia Union on Saturday. The 5-11 forward shot 16-for-33 from the field and 4-for-12 from the arc in the victory. Furthermore, she pulled down six rebounds and had two blocks and one steal.

Honorable Mention

Mackenzie Lynch, Caldwell - Averaged 23.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.

Cherrise Graham, Goldey-Beacom - Averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games.

CACC Team Notes

Caldwell - Sophomore forward Mackenzie Lynch was named the MVP of the Bloomsburg Tournament after averaging 23.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game as the Cougars opened the season 1-1. A transfer from Bryant University who came to Caldwell last spring, Lynch notched the first two double-doubles of her career this past weekend.

Felician - Felician's first four opponents received votes in the WBCA national preseason poll, including No. 11 West Texas A&M and No. 9 and 2006 national finalist AIC. The combined 2005-06 won-lost record of the Golden Falcons' five opponents this season was 111-43 (.721).

Holy Family - Holy Family won its first season opener in the last three seasons with a 78-49 victory over New York Institute of Technology. The Tigers are ranked 17th in the Division II Bulletin and are receiving votes in the latest WBCA/USA Today Coaches Poll. Holy Family has won 28 of its last 29 home games.

Post - Post had five scorers in double figures, as the Eagles fell to the New Haven in the first game of the 2006-07 season. Senior Tadj Williams led the Eagles with 14 points, while senior Telisha Moultrie and Jennifer Rose each added 13 points. Williams and Rose led the way with seven rebounds, while Moultrie had six. Senior Marjorie Prado had 11 points and junior LaToya Coley chipped in with 10. Post returns to action on Tuesday for its first road game of the young season, at Molloy College. Following the short break, the Eagles will open the CACC portion of its schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Nyack.
