GRAHAM AND ABELE SHARE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Cherrise Graham of Goldey-Beacom College and Meg Abele of Philadelphia University have been named co-Players of the Week in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, January 14th. Amelia Simmons of Wilmington College is the pick for Rookie of the Week.

Graham, a 5-8 senior guard from Philadelphia, PA, averaged 25.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per-game for the week. She had 34 points, nine rebounds and four steals against Post.


Abele, a 5-11 senior forward from Lititz, PA, averaged 26.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per-game while shooting 53.1-percent (26-of-49) from the field. She poured in 31 points and eight rebounds versus Dominican.

Simmons, tallied two double-doubles during the week and averaged 23.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg in three games. Registered 23 points and 13 rebounds at

Felician and 21 points and 11 rebounds at Nyack.

Honorable Mention

Melissa Brooks, So., Holy Family - Led Holy Family to a 3-0 week with averages of 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per-game.

Sherrelle Holmes, Jr., Wilmington - Averaged 16.0 points, 11.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per-game in three contests.

CACC Notes

Felician - Senior guard Diane Burns played in her 100th consecutive game Thursday night at Bloomfield. She has not missed a game in her collegiate career. Out of 101 career games, she has started all but five. Senior guard Laurin Brown registered career highs of 20 points and six three-point field goals in Tuesday's loss to Wilmington.

Georgian Court - The Lions are looking to snap their four-game losing streak against CACC competition Tuesday evening as they host the Chargers of Dominican College. The Lions are led this season by junior Stephanie Longdo who is averaging 12.4 points per game and freshman Sophia Iloh who is averaging 10.4 points per game. Iloh is second on the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game.

Holy Family - The Tigers have won 35 straight regular season conference games, and are ranked 24th in Division II by the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll. The 62 points scored by Dominican were the highest point total by an opponent this season. The Tigers held Dominican to just three field goals in the first half, and Bloomfield to just five field goals in the second half last week.

Philadelphia - Senior forward Nicole Mechell is just 36 points shy of becoming the 20th Lady Rams' player in school history to score 1,000 career points. Fellow senior Alisha Ferguson is also closing in on the mark, needing just 79 points to reach the plateau. Ferguson is also just 99 rebounds shy of 1,000 for her career and is on pace to become just the third women's player in school history with 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

USP - USP has now won four straight CACC games. With seven free throws made during the week, Rashanna Edwards moved into ninth place on the Devils all-time FTM list with 225 for her career. Lori Sedina became just the sixth women's player in school history to start in at least 100 games. Sedina has started 101 of 103 career games played.

Wilmington - Sherrelle Holmes set a new Wilmington College single-season school record with 15 assists Tuesday night verses Felician College.
