HOLY FAMILY WOMEN RISE TO 20TH IN USA TODAY/ESPN TOP 25 POLL

January 16, 2007

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Holy Family University women's basketball team has moved up to 20th in this week's USA Today/ESPN Division II Women's Top-25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Tigers moved up four spots from their previous ranking of 24th last week. Holy Family is the lone Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team that is ranked in the top 25.

Holy Family is currently 13-1 overall and 10-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, and has won its last seven games. The Tigers have won 36 straight regular season conference games dating back to the 2004-05 season.

Currently, the Tigers are led by starting forward Melissa Brooks (So./Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) who averages 12.1 points per game. She was the 2005-06 CACC Rookie of the Year.

Starting guard Kelly Killion (Jr./Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) averages 11.8 points per game and ranks second on the team in that category. She also leads the team in three-pointers made with 35.

Starting center Megan Bauer (Sr./Norwood, PA/Ridley) averages 11.4 points per game and leads the team with nine rebounds per game. The 2005-06 CACC Co-Player of the Year, Bauer recently scored her 1,000th career point in a 75-52 win over Wilmington on Tuesday night.

As a team, the Tigers lead Division II in field-goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 28.9 percent from the field. Holy Family is also fourth nationally in scoring defense (48.6 points per game allowed) and scoring margin, with their average win coming by 22.8 points.

Individually, Killion ranks 11th nationally in three-point field-goal percentage at 44.7 percent as of the last statistical report.
