Nyack, NY - Nyack College Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Rashida Aikens was selected to play for her home country of Jamaica this past summer and helped the team place well in numerous tournaments.

After being chosen to play on the Jamaican National Team, Rashida helped lead the squad to a gold medal finish in Jamaica at the Caricom Tournament and a bronze medal finish in Mexico at the Centro Basket Tournament.

The bronze medal finish in Mexico qualified the Jamaican team for the Pan Am Games, which will be held in Brazil in the summer of 2007.

In the Caricom Tournament, Jamaica was undefeated in the four games that they played to earn the gold medal. After that, the team traveled to Mexico for the Centro Basket Tournament where they played five games.

Jamaica won three out of the five games, losing once to Cuba, who went on to win the gold medal. The team also lost to Puerto Rico.

Jamaica got payback in the bronze medal game by defeating Puerto Rico, 71-67. For more information, check the FIBA Americas website;
