2005-06 Women's Basketball Players of the Week November 21 Player of the Week: Megan Bauer, Holy Family: Filled the box score to the tune of 25 points, 12 rebounds, six blocks, three assists and two steals against preseason #6 Merrimack. The junior center shot 8-of-19 from the field and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe in the game. Rookie of the Week: Kaarina Stearns, Nyack: Nearly averaged a double-double last week with averages of 9.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per-game for the Warriors. She tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds in her first collegiate game against Roberts Wesleyan. November 28 Player of the Week: Shelby Rance, USP: Poured in 26 points and hauled in 11 rebounds in USP's win over West Chester on Tuesday. She shot 11-of-17 from the field and also came up with a steal. Rookie of the Week: Allison Weiss, USP: Tallied 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds in USP's victory over West Chester. She shot 5-for-7 from the field and added two steals and a blocked shot. December 5 Player of the Week: Domenica Raymond, Bloomfield: Led the Deacons to a 2-0 week by averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 steals and 4.0 rebounds per-game. She exploded for 29 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists in an 80-60 victory over Felician on Saturday. She shot 7-for-14 from 3-point range for the week. Rookie of the Week: Katie Dunn, Holy Family: Averaged 11.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per-game in a 3-0 week for the Tigers. She chalked up 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting in a 58-46 victory over NJIT and added 10 points against both New Haven and Georgian Court University. Dunn shot 6-for-14 (.429) from long range for the week. December 12 Player of the Week: Leah Shumoski, USP: Averaged 24.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.33 blocks and 1.67 steals per-game in three games last week. She scored a season-high 33 points in a victory over Post and notched a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds against Felician. She shot 45.1-percent (32-of-71) from the field for the week and 81.8-percent (9-for-11) from the charity stripe. Rookie of the Week: Annie Alosa, Georgian Court: Recorded a season-high 18 points in a victory over Caldwell and averaged 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per-game for the week. She shot 4-for-7 from 3-point range against the Cougars and pulled down six rebounds against Bloomfield. December 19 Player of the Week: Danielle Norman, Felician: Enjoyed an outstanding all-around performance with 23 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and four blocks in a loss to Caldwell. She shot 6-of-9 from the floor en route to her fourth consecutive double-double. Rookie of the Week: Stephanie Goss, Post: Registered a season-high 13 points in a loss at #19 American International. She also contributed five rebounds, two steals and a block while shooting 6-for-10 from the floor. January 3 Co-Players of the Week: Kelly Crowe, NJIT and Marissa Franklin, Bloomfield: Crowe averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Highlanders. She scored 23 points and added five rebounds and three assists in a victory over Virginia-Wise, and scored her 1,000th-career point in the game. She was named to the South Padre Island Shootout All-Tournament Team. Franklin led Bloomfield to two impressive non-conference victories over Merrimack and UMass-Lowell by posting averages of 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Tallied 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals against Merrimack and added 13 points and six rebounds against UMass-Lowell. Shot 52-percent from the field for the week. Rookie of the Week: Renee Vales, Bloomfield: Dished out nine assists and added seven points and three rebounds in a victory over Merrimack. Averaged 5.5 assists per-game for the week. January 9 Player of the Week: Tadj Williams, Post: Recorded two double-doubles in an undefeated week for the Eagles. Averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 67-percent (14-21) from the field. Had a 20-point, 10-rebound, 8-for-9 shooting performance against Georgian Court and added 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists per-game for the week. Rookie of the Week: Allison Weiss, USP: Averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 58-percent from the field in a 2-0 week for the Devils. Tallied 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks against Georgian Court. January 16 Co-Players of the Week: Megan Bauer, Holy Family and Leah Shumoski, USP: Bauer averaged 18.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, 5.6 blocks and 3.0 assists per-game while shooting 61.5-percent from the field. Recorded 19 points, 17 rebounds and eight blocks in a win over Bloomfield. Shumoski averaged 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per-game on 50-percent shooting. She registered 29 points and eight rebounds against Bloomfield. Rookie of the Week: Allison Weiss, USP: Averaged 11.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per-game in a 2-0 week. Recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds against Caldwell on 6-of-9 shooting and shot 62.5-percent from the floor for the week. January 23 Player of the Week: Toni Jones, Goldey-Beacom: Averaged 19.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per-game, along with 3.0 steals. Registered 21 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and shot 10-for-14 from the field against Nyack and had 19 points and 13 boards versus Dominican. She shot 58-percent (24-41) from the field for the week. Rookie of the Week: Jill Dickinson, NJIT: Poured in 31 points in a victory over Post en route to averages 15.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per-game for the week. Shot 8-for-16 from the field and 5-for-12 from beyond the arc against the Eagles, along with three assists and three steals. January 30 Co-Players of the Week: Tadj Williams, Post and Leah Shumoski, USP: Williams averaged 17.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals per-game for the Eagles. She registered 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists at Dominican. She also produced double-doulbes against Nyack (13 points, 14 rebounds) and Philadelphia (13 points, 16 rebounds). Shumoski averaged 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per-game for the week. She notched 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks against Dominican and had 10 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists and three steals, against Philadelphia. Rookie of the Week: Annie Alosa, Georgian Court: Averaged 12.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per-game in a 2-1 week for the Lions. Tallied 18 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the arc against Felician and hit a 3-pointer with 7.7 seconds left on the clock to beat Caldwell on Saturday. February 6 Player of the Week: Meg Abele, Philadelphia: Averaged 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and shot 50-percent (12-of-24) from 3-point range in a 3-0 week. Registered 22 points against both Bloomfield and Dominican and added seven rebounds against the Chargers. Collected 16 points, six rebounds and two blocks at Wilmington. Rookie of the Week: Melissa Brooks, Holy Family: Tallied 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocks at Bloomfield and averaged 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot 59.1-percent (13-of-22) from the field and added 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per-game. February 13 Co-Players of the Week: Leah Shumoski, USP and Alisha Ferguson, Philadelphia: Shumoski averaged 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per-game and did not commit a single turnover in a 2-0 week. Had 20 points and 14 rebounds against Goldey-Beacom and shot 60-percent (18-for- 30) from the field for the week. Ferguson posted 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per-game and shot 66.7-percent (18-for-27) from the field. Posted 24 points and 14 rebounds against Georgian Court and also notched 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals at NJIT. Rookie of the Week: Melissa Brooks, Holy Family: Averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per-game in a 2-0 week. Tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists in a victory over Felician. Also had 13 points, eight rebounds and a block against Nyack. February 20 Player of the Week: Megan Bauer, Holy Family: Averaged a double-double for the week with 19.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per-game. She also averaged 7.5 blocks per-game. Bauer recorded 20 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks against NJIT and added 19 points, 13 boards and eight rejections at Dominican. Rookie of the Week: Ashley Lobbato, Georgian Court: Nearly averaged a double-double for the week by posting 10.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per-contest. Collected 13 points, six rebounds and two steals against Dominican and contributed seven points and 11 rebounds against Goldey-Beacom. February 27 Player of the Week: Meg Abele, Philadelphia: Averaged 29.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per-game. Poured in 39 points on 13-of-18 shooting, including 6-for-9 from long range, against Caldwell. Also scored 26 points against Concordia and had 22 points and four steals at Holy Family. Rookie of the Week: Barbara Jones, Georgian Court: Averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per-game for the week. Tallied 13 points and six rebounds against Nyack and had 10 points and nine rebounds against NJIT. March 6 Player of the Week: Shelby Rance, USP: Was named the CACC Tournament MVP after averaging 20.3 points per-game in three games, including 17 points and six rebounds in the championship game. Shot 47.7-percent (21-44) from the field and also averaged 5.0 rebounds per-game. Rookie of the Week: Melissa Brooks, Holy Family: Averaged 11.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per-game while shooting 42-percent (15-36) from the floor during the CACC Tournament. Was named to the CACC All-Tournament team for her efforts. Registered 16 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game. |
