FIVE CACC WOMEN NAMED TO ECAC BASKETBAL ALL-STAR TEAM

March 23, 2006

NEW HAVEN, CT - Five women's basketball players from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schools have been named to the 2006 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II All-Star team. Holy Family junior center Megan Bauer was a first team selection and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior forward Leah Shumoski and junior guard Shelby Rance, were both second team picks. Holy Family sophomore guard Kelly Killion and Philadelphia University junior guard Meg Abele were both Honorable Mentions.

Bauer, who is from Norwood, PA, was named the CACC Co-Player of the Year after averaging a double-double on the year with 13.6 points and 10.5 rebounds. She ranked 10th in the CACC in scoring, second in rebounding and first in blocks (119) and field-goal percentage (.557). After a perfect 24-0 conference regular-season record, the Tigers became the first CACC women's basketball team to win a Division II NCAA Tournament game by defeating Pace University, 70-62, in the first round. Holy Family concluded the season with a 29-3 record.

As USP's all-time leading scorer with 1,924 points, Shumoski helped lead the Devils to the CACC Tournament championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament. Shumoski led the Devils in rebounding (9.4 per-game), field goal percentage (45.2%) and blocked shots (38) while ranking second on the team in scoring (17.3).

Rance, a first team All-CACC selection the past two seasons, led the Devils and ranked second in the CACC in scoring (17.6 ppg) and was named CACC Tournament MVP for the second time in three years. Rance is USP's second all-time leading scorer with 1,462 points.

Killion was a first team All-CACC selection after ranking 14th in the conference in scoring (12.2), fourth in assist (4.42) and third in 3-point field-goal percentage (.395). Killion, who is from Pennsauken, NJ, exploded for 30 points in a 64-53 CACC Tournament semifinal win over Dominican.

Abele, who hails from Lititz, PA, was the CACC's leading scorer this season with an average of 18.2 ppg. She also ranked second in free-throw percentage (83.5) and fifth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.383). Furthermore, Abele was an Honorable Mention selection to the Kodak/WBCA All-America basketball team.
