NEW HAVEN, CT - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior forward Leah Shumoski (Marple-Newtown HS/Broomall, PA) was recently named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Division II Basketball Bulletin.

Shumoski was one of 29 Honorable mention selections, joining 20 others who made up the First through Fourth Teams.

During the 2005-06 season, Shumoski was the Devils leading rebounder (9.4/gm) and second leading scorer (17.3pts./gm) in leading USP to a 23-8 recorde and its second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship in three years. Her performance in the tournament garnered her all-tournament team honors for the third consecutive season.

Shumoski, the 2006 CACC Co-Player of the Year, was recently named to the Daktronics All-Northeast Region Team as a First Team selection and as an ECAC second team All-Star selection. During the season Leah was named the CACC Player of the Week four times and earned ECAC Player of the week once.

USP's senior captain finished her career as the Devils' all-time leading scorer with 1,924 points. The Broomall, Pa. native also recorded her 1,000th career rebound in the CACC quarterfinals against Felician College, becoming the first basketball player (male or female) in school history to record 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds. Shumoski finished her career with 1,030 rebounds to rank third on the Devils all-time list. Leah also ranks in the top four all-time in nine other offensive categories as well as scoring and rebounding.

A former Marple-Newtown High School athlete, Shumoski is a pharmacy major currently in the fifth year of the university's six-year doctor of Pharmacy program and will graduate in 2007.
