HOLY FAMILY’S BATTINIERI WINS CACC WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Franklin, Killion, McLaughlin, Nyack Honored, Along With All-Conference Basketball Teams

NEWARK, N.J. – Senior guard Jamie Battinieri of Holy Family University was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in balloting released today. Marissa Franklin of Bloomfield College and Kelly Killion of Holy Family shared the CACC’s inaugural Newcomer of the Year Award, and Holy Family’s Mike McLaughlin was named Coach of the Year. The voting was done by the league’s 12 head coaches.
Battinieri, of Eddystone, Pa., averages 16.1 points (6th in the CACC) and 4.44 assists (2nd). She also leads the conference in both three-point accuracy (.388) and three-pointers per game (2.63). She is third in assist/turnover (ratio), and was a two-time CACC Player of the Week. 

Franklin,a freshman from Pleasantville, N.J., averages 14.4 points (10th) and 8.7 rebounds (7th) while shooting .507 from the floor (4th), while Killion leads the CACC in assists (6.11) and assist/turnover ratio (2.39) and scores 10.3 points per game. McLaughlin has guided the Tigers (22-5, 21-1) to their fifth consecutive CACC regular-season title and a No. 5 Northeast regional ranking. It is his fifth Coach of the Year award in his team’s six years as a CACC member.

The CACC’s annual Team Sportsmanship Award went to Nyack College, coached by Josh Thompson, for the second consecutive year. The league also announced the all-CACC teams, which are listed below.
